That Carolina deal is putrid for the Bruins once you contemplate the contract on Necas

Replace Lysell for Poitras. Maybe it’s a consideration though I’m not sure Geekie would be Carolina’s first choice despite his contract

I don't see a realistic path to getting Necas personally, but we shall see. I think what you proposed is an overpayment, and I really don't want to let Poitras go.

Necas could have an immediate impact on the top 6, but I think it would ultimately be at wing. His faceoff numbers are really bad and he is more an offense-first guy. I think the Bruins need more of a 200 foot player at center given how they typically play. I'd rather give a cost-controlled Poitras runway to become that guy than take a shot at Necas being that guy. The doors have been wide open for Necas to be a 2C in Carolina, but he hasn't made it work yet, so I remain very skeptical that he would take the leap in Boston.
