Description
I'm not sure if anyone has thought of this before, though it seems like an obvious answer to the question; who's replacing Bergeron? I don't think Coyle or Zacha are going to be the guy who takes on that role and leaves us with no doubt in out mind that they'll fit into the 1c just like that, which is why I believe Couturier is both the perfect fit for what Boston needs, and what Philly needs, to help them go the direction they want to. I go more in depth on the trades, but this is a 3-way deal between Philly, Boston, and Arizona.
Trades
1.
BOS
  1. Couturier, Sean
Additional Details:
Boston lost a massive part of their roster when Bergeron retired, as the center position has become incredibly lackluster in his absence. Looking for a Selke winning centerman 1c who can fill the gap sounds like a difficult task as teams probably aren't looking to move an asset like that, if only there was a team who's trying to tank and might look into moving their top centerman who's too old to rebuild around and too good to keep around on a tanking team. Couturier is the perfect fit for Boston, and Philly has no reason to keep him around.
PHI
  1. Coyle, Charlie
  2. Poitras, Matthew
  3. Zboril, Jakub
  4. 2025 1st round pick (BOS)
  5. 2025 3rd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Couturier is not helping with the rebuild, and is at peak value. Sure, the haul for Couturier may not seem like enough, but remember that this guy is hurting the rebuild as long as he remains on roster, and moving on from him is the best decision. I have no doubt Flyers fans who see this post will demand more for a guy like this, and I hear you, but unless another team helps facilitate a trade (maybe a team takes Swayman and sends you their own picks) I doubt there's many other teams with the surplus necessary to acquire him.
2.
BOS
  1. Vejmelka, Karel
Additional Details:
Arizona sends a 2nd to Philly

Boston replaces a goalie they can't keep around long term for a guy who has an extra year on his deal and who's been decent for a goalie who's been on Arizona. This also keeps the roster cap compliant.
ARI
  1. Swayman, Jeremy
Additional Details:
Arizona gets a younger goalie who can be their guys for the foreseeable future, and he's an RFA so resigning him won't be too difficult.

Swayman gets more in return, at least a 2nd or 2 if not a 1 st.

The thought and intent is fine, the Bs do well with a two way center at the helm, but Couturier is not it. He's played 29 games in 2 years and is signed at huge money until he's 36. In addition, if the 2nd from ARZ breaks the deal, there are other ways to get it other than trading your goalie of the next decade for an older backup who won't cut it.
Doing this does help the immediate future assuming Couturier plays, but it further depletes our drafting possibilities and removes the only C prospect we have with top 6 potential, making it even more difficult to build the center position from within, which is much more appealing that overspending on vets. Particularly because we can spend the same amount of cap on a younger, less frequently injured guy in the offseason next year.

Couturier would be an excellent fit but his injury history is basically the kiss of death I’m still shocked over the contract he got it’s Chuck Fletcher at his finest
