While I would like to have JVR on the team, I'm not financing the future to get him. Besides that, that deal isn't anywhere near what the Leafs would want in return, let alone make them retain salary. Palhal would know better than me what they want but I'm sure its not what you gave them.

And yes the rumors are that Marleau wants to come to NY, and they've been scouting him, but they just came out today and said they have no real interest in bringing him here so. And we wouldn't want him. What you've essentially done is trade away a ton of youth and made it near impossible to resign all the guys we have to next offseason (Kreider, Yandle, Hayes)
So pass to these moves, we have no real issues with the forwards, if you're gonna trade someone, trade Girardi.

Your Marleau package could get us JVR, however the JVR package you suggested cannot.

Gee, how many new wingers do the Rangers want? The Grabner trade: 3 players and the pick are really meaningless to the Leafs. Think Rangers would better to keep Moore instead of switching for Grabner. Agree Grabner can be got (cheaply) at some time.
Actually the JVR trade would be fair when JVR is in the last year of his contract. But for almost 3 years left at 4.25m a year, JVR is of good value to the Leafs. When he's going well, the Leafs need his spunk and talent on the wing.
Despite their record....the Leafs are playing hard and mostly well (for the talent on their team). See you Rangers on Saturday. Oh yes, the Bills on Thursday.
