Description
These are the teams I consider most likely to land Hart. These are the only teams I feel have sufficient assets that Philly would be looking for in Hart trades, while also having the demand for a young goalie with consistency problems but with a ceiling of franchise caliber tendie. Honorable mentions go out to the Avalanche, Capitals, and Penguins, who all have the demand, but lack the assets to land him, and the Red wings and Blackhawks, who don't have enough demand to make sense of giving the necessary assets away (Detroit won't want to move prospects, and the Blackhawks won't want to move picks)

This was rushed, and I made moves with teams I'm not the most knowledgeable on, so I apologize in advance if these trade look like jokes. And shoutout/apologies to account DirtyDangles, who motivated me to do this, and who I bet will be livid with me not making every deal an excessive overpay in favor of the flyers. I know they likely won't move Hart without an overpay, I'm just making trades that show what some teams might be willing to give up.

  3. 2023 2nd round pick (TOR)
  4. 2024 1st round pick (SEA)
  5. 2025 4th round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Probably one of the more realistic trades imo, Philly will definitely be asking for a 1st, another early round pick, and an a-/b+ prospect. I understand some people would argue that Driedger is more of a cap dump than a regular roster replacement for Hart, which I understand, so I threw a 4th in to make up a bit for that, but I personally think the package alone is more than enough. Seattle makes the most sense to me as a Hart landing spot in that they'll want a young goalie that has a timeline closer to that of Beniers, and Hart definitely fits that bill.
2.
PHI
  1. Daws, Nico
  2. Holtz, Alexander
  3. 2024 1st round pick (NJD)
  4. 2025 4th round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
New Jersey may not be the most likely landing spot for Hart as they don't have much demand, but they do have the supply of prospects to send out to get the trade done. This assumes the team is committed to starting Schmid over Vanecek and no longer have the need for Daws, opting to run with a Schmid-Hart tandem. I don't love it personally, but I decided to make the trade anyways. Philly receives a good young goalie prospect, a solid winger just waiting to have a breakout season, a next year 1st, and a later round pick just to spice things up.

3.
PHI
  1. Poirier, Jérémie
  2. Ruzicka, Adam
  3. 2024 1st round pick (CGY)
  4. 2025 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Assuming Calgary finds a way to get Markstrom out, this could be a great trade to shake things up in Alberta. I think the added cap flexibility of switching off Markstrom onto Hart will help the team improve elsewhere on the roster. Poirier is an interesting offensive defenseman with big upside, and Ruzicka is a more physical player that Philly will fall in love with immediately. The picks are standard. This is another trade I think is unlikely, because I believe if the Calgary flames wanted to solve their goalie issues right now instead of waiting for Wolf, Hart isn't quite the reliable veteran option B you're looking for in your tandem.
CGY
  1. Hart, Carter
4.
PHI
  1. Byfield, Quinton
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Byfield has struggled to establish himself since going 2nd overall a few years back, but he still has an incredibly high ceiling to grow into. If and when his breakout season come, he will definitely prove why he got drafted so high. Byfield has so much potential, I barely think Hart is enough 1 for 1 and believe Philly won't even get a 1st if this trade happened.
LAK
  1. Hart, Carter
5.
PHI
  1. Boucher, Tyler
  2. 2024 1st round pick (OTT)
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
I see this trade being both equal in value, and in likelihood of going through to the Seattle trade. An a-/b+ prospect, a 1st, and a 2nd, with the 4th being unnecessary because there's no Driedger. Boucher is another guy who looks like he'd be the perfect Philly style player, and Ottawa's picks carry more risk than you'd think after falling short of expectations this year. This also hopefully solves their goalie situation long term, and fits their window with Stu, Tkachuck, Norris, and all of their younger core pieces.

I would say easy no for the Ottawa one. I would stay as far away from Boucher as possible and think Ottawa has the ability to form as different package

Why do you allege that Byfield "has struggled to establish himself"?!? He's the youngest player of anyone mentioned here, including acquisition targets Tyler Boucher (now THERE's a guy who's shown a lot) and Alexander Holtz as well as Jeremy Poirier. He's also bigger than anyone else on your front line except for Kevin Hayes.

We won't be trading him for Carter Hart. Sorry.

1. Seattle as an option - sure. But not in this deal. Flyers aren’t taking on another goalie, there’s already a logjam there. I also highly doubt they get a top prospect AND a 1st round pick.

2. Ain’t no way in hell that New Jersey is giving up a top prospect, a 1st, and a very solid goalie prospect for a league average goalie. They need an upgrade and Hart isn’t one .

3. Calgary makes 0 sense for Hart. Markstrom has a full NMC and while players do waive them all the time, he’s on a contending team and probably wouldn’t. Blades as a backup at $2.8m is a better option than Hart.

4. Rob Blake laughs so hard and blocks the number. Byfield for Hart is a non starter - try starting with Turcotte and you get more traction.

5. Ottawa is a good destination but again not for a top prospect and pick. There’s just no value there for the Sens.

Goalies don’t historically get a huge return, especially league average ones like Hart. I think if you think this will be the return then you’re going to be highly disappointed.

There’s really no precedent I can think of that justifies such a high cost for Carter Hart

After a trio of mediocre years, I fail to see how Carter Hart gets that kind of return. I like the kid but I wouldn't give up a 1st+ for him at this point in time.
