Description
Honest prediction of moves the Hawks will make to get above the cap floor, progress in the next phase of their rebuild, and put some pieces in place to prepare the team for some prospects to arrive in the NHL soon but not quite yet. Prior feedback of going after other team's LTIR contracts was taken into account. Most team's LTIR falls off at the conclusion of 2023 or are on teams in the same situation as the Hawks. VAN is one team that sticks out with three players in the trade on LTIR, up against the cap, and wanting to ice a playoff competitive team as soon as possible.

Canucks fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure both Poolman and Pearson are slated for LTIR "retirement" so this move doesn't open up that cap space for them and MIkheyev was actually really quite good for them. So, your trade has them trading a capable middle-6 W that had success with them, 4 picks (including a 1st), and some LTIR deadweight for a solid RD prospect and an actual deadweight RD that doesn't crack their lineup even without any offseason upgrades at RD (an upgrade that should be a priority for them). In light of that, you're likely gonna have to revise your thinking on that one.

This is 100% correct, although I think there may be a small chance Poolman comes back. Had a lot of concussion issues though so not sure how likely it is

Mikheyev was on a 50 point pace with a partially torn ACL and will be an important part of the Canucks PK next season. Why would the Canucks pay to dump him?

His chance of coming back was 3 games this season, he had a return of the symptoms and went right back to the IR, I cant see him ever playing again, he’s going to be the new Ferland

Don't see Hawks bringing back Khaira or Mitchell. And as stated previously, zero chance Vancouver makes that trade. Also think a 4th back for Blackwell is optimistic.
