Description
Assuming the Red Wings jump to first or second overall, this could be what next seasons squad could look like. Zadina more than likely will be dealt this offseason, trading Chiarot to have 3 LHD on the left and 3 RHD on the right is smart. Most likely Ned, Hellberg, and a couple others will not return next season, and after a non-successful season in Pittsburgh, Yzerman could look to take a chance on him. Adding a vet on the right also is necessary, but a potential overpayment maybe required. Lombardi, Kasper, and Edvinsson all get to play a rookie season with Detroit. Is this going to happen? Probably not, but it's nice to just to have somewhat of an idea.

Trades
1.
DET
  1. 2023 4th round pick (STL)
  2. 2024 7th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
This is his approximate value form what I have seen. Doesn't have to be the Blues for where he goes, but Blues are revamping their team entirely, could be good for veteran leadership.
STL
  1. Chiarot, Ben
Additional Details:
Has to waive his M-NTC most likely for this deal to occur.
2.
DET
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
  2. 2024 6th round pick (NSH)
  3. 2025 5th round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
A 2nd and 2 later round picks most likely could be a return, just not wanting to give up a first for him means more lower picks
EDM
  1. Zadina, Filip
Additional Details:
Needs a change of scenery and has solid trade value, but I don't see anyone trading a first for him.

can't see Zadina having anywhere near that trade value. he's a reclamation project, a top 10 pick in 2018 who's yet to pan out

I mean if you get Bedard he's on the roster next season, if you get Fantilli it's probably 50/50 if he goes back for 1 more year of college. I can see Zadina bring moved but no one's paying anything for him and no way you move Chairot without paying to do it. No one takes that garbage deal for free.

Blues have enough veteran leadership. Also have enough niche usage long term defensive contracts. Only way Chairot coming in makes sense is if Krug is going the other way and Scandella is being moved elsewhere.

This would give the Blues the following Contracts:
Parayko 8 years 6.5m
Krug 4 Years 6.5m
Faulk 4 Years 6.5m
Leddy 3 Years 4m
Chairot 3 years 4.75m
Scandella 1 year 3.25m

That is a defense lacking a true #1 D and 3 years locked in at around 30m in cap. Not a good formula at all. Individually I dont think any of these are necessarily awful contracts, and i haven't watched Chairot much but he may be a good compliment to Parayko in a shutdown role. You just can't dedicate that much cap to 5 defensemen and not feel like it's a major strength of the team.

Scott Mayfield will get 4 x $4,000,000

No way St Louis takes Ben Chiarot, They've a backlog of LD like we do. Unless we take back Krug which kind of defeats the purpose. Ben Chiarot isn't going anywhere.

Pius Suter will probably get in the 3 x $3,000,000 to $3,500,000 per range.

Wings aren't getting anything more than a 4th for him. Hes only hit 0.50 ppg o n c e in his career for a guy whose supposed to be a goal scorer
