Description
I want to throw up every time I see paid journalists listing the Red Wings as trade partners for Bo Horvat or Jakob Chychrun. I can’t believe these people get paid money to write these kinds of things. Some idiot suggested the Red Wings might trade a 2023 1st, Marco Kasper, William Wallinder and more for Chychrun when we’re trending to pick 9th in the draft. Unreal.

Prospect rankings are in Taxi Squad.

So Vegas isn't going to pay a 1st to add Walman, you can try adding to him but it just doesn't make sense same with Edmonton. Nothing there is worth parting with the 1st nevermind adding bourgault. Bert who knows and Larkin if he'll sign in Carolina maybe they entertain a big deal. I don't think they buy either but they need high end talent so I can see them being interested in the Meier or Horvat speculation.

Detroit might not be buyers but they are certainly looking to add good players if they can so that they can get better.

I don't think they will be in on him, but Chychrun is only 24 and has two more years. You kind of make it sound like he would be acquired as a rental. As for Horvat, with an extension in place it's also not out of the question especially if they think they need a 2C and/or they want insurance in case they lose Larkin. There's no way they are going into next season without a true 1 or 2C.

Aas for who or what they are willing to give up, that is a different story.

The Edmonton trade is surely too much.
The Walman trade really isn't that bad, they get a solid D and move down 20 or so spots in the draft. Thar isn't so unreasonable.
Toronto is a way overpay considering how Bertuzzi has played this year.

Carolina is too cheap for that offer, Detroit wants more than that. A deal will be impossible, but Carolina makes the most sense for Larkin, and Larkin makes the most sense for Carolina.

Incredibly terrible for Edmonton.

Many journalists both professional and amateur(meaning fan sites/blogs so that's super amateur.. lol) make some of the most delusional trade proposals, its laughable that guys who have worked in the industry for so long haven't figured out trade value or comparables.

I figure a 1st two seasons from now doesn’t really have “first round” value, especially for a team in Vegas’ position. I also imagine they extend Walman as well.

For the Edmonton deal, I valued a retained Perron for 2 years at a 1st & Bourgault; too high?

Foegele & Puljujarvi have close to no value/negative value, so moving them in my opinion requires compensation so moving them AND getting two quality playoff pieces in Maatta & Sundqvist costs Schaefer, a 2nd & a 3rd. It’s a wholesale trade which isn’t common and will always appear to be too much one way or the other.

We do need high end talent and we have some coming up with Edvinsson, Kasper & you can throw Wallinder into that mix; why would we trade them + additional high end assets to get a guy who is good now, when we’re not good now and adding a guy like Horvat or Meier arguably won’t really change anything this year?

I love Horvat and Meier, and coming into the season, I would have traded for either one of them in a heartbeat, but we’re a little past that. There will be plenty of options after the season and during the draft to wheel and deal.

Plus, to be able to have a shot at the lottery, why go out of our way to give up assets, to improve marginally and the result ends up being we’re picking 15th in the draft? It just doesn’t make sense.
