Jack Eichel to Van

Dear God, I am not a Canucks fan, but please don't do this Eichel move, at least not unless Buffalo eats 25% of the contract. The Canucks have holes, but nothing that warrants blowing it up for a player with a bad neck who has not even come close to lifting his team out of the cellar in 6 years.

Getting to the floor will be easy for Seattle, so just let them have Virtanen (if that's really who they'll take. I think Holtby is the more likely) . If you're hellbent on making the Eichel trade, taking back Loui will be easy for the Sabres as they'll be flirting with the "floor", even with Skinner.

The thought that Buf would eat 2.5M on an already decent, but not great proposal is laughable.

Agreed. I don't think it's a good enough offer for Buffalo, but it also sucks for the Canucks. I was urging the Canucks to not rip up with 3-4-year plan to build a really solid team around Hughes, Hoglander, Pettersson and Boeser. I didn't like the trade for either team. That said, I really don't like Eichel for any team. I think he's the quintessential coach killer who makes everyone around him worse. I seriously wonder if he'll be the first player to go his whole career never making the playoffs.

VAN doesn't need to trade for Eichel. They already have a solid young core.
