Description
Rangers are already looking like a team different than what was expected of them - would this deal go through from either team's perspective to make them more legitimate now and in the future?? Rangers retain none of Girardi's contract for the next 3 years. They replace him and Skjei with more affordable and just as reliable options. Loss is on Kreider where they get a presumably younger version of himself.

Although Girardi's contract is an overpayment, Gardiners is just as bad. Valiev and Brown arent proven NHLers yet- so how does that justify Kreider and Skjei?? the Leafs get the 3 best players in this deal- the Rangers get hosed! The Rangers want to win now, so dumping salary and getting prospects isnt in the cards at all. Skjei is an up and comer and Kreider is a top line power forward just entering his prime. Ridiculous offer. why not take the Rangers 1st, 2nd round picks too?

Rollie: Do you watch any Leafs hockey? Gardiner is a superior player to Giradri with a better contract and still has upside. Valiev fro Skjei about even. Kreider is better than Brown now and probably in the future.
But analysis that the Leafs are getting the three best players fantasy. Realistic player ranking......Kreider, Gardiner, Brown Girardi, Skejei, Valiev. and the Leafs take on another 5 million in salary. Well at least Nash and Staal weren't included in the trade.
Kreider and Skjei for Gardiner, Brown, and Valiev would be about fair. Rangers would do a Leafs a favour by keeping Girardi. Going to interesting if Girardi and Staal don't waive their NMCs at expansion draft.

phal, I appreciate someone seeing my side to it! I think Girardi's cap would be a huge part of the deal, that being said I didn't spend a terrible amount of time storming this one up - I think the leafs could use his experience on the blue line as well as the possibility that he could turn his career around A BIT. I see the argument that the Rangers would be extremely skeptical to move Kreider especially as he begins his climb, but like I said, I was basically just messing around with it.
