Description
Honestly, I don't know how good Pesce truly is, because I don't watch him every game, so I could easily be off on the value. Top 3 lines of forwards are good, 4th line is worrying, but the d looks pretty darn good. Obviously Pesce wouldn't help with the cap crunch next year, but a guy like him really helps.

Canes decline. Faulk on final year of his contract. Hamilton will be in same boat next year and a trade candidate. Trading Pesce could end up meaning this time next year all 4 of their RD are gone. Better chance of Faulk or Hamilton being traded.

Fualk for Gourde

Gourde has an NTC, Faulk has been pretty bad over the past couple of seasons and has a significant cap hit (if we're willing to take on that cap, we should really be going for Kreider), and Gourde's forechecking style is extremely helpful for the Lightning (not to mention his two consecutive 20 goal seasons despite having been employed as a depth player). For those prices, I would much prefer to keep Gourde and pair Hedman with Sergachev, or, if possible, trade someone for Kreider. Our defense was elite last season and I think we'll survive without replacing Girardi. On the other hand, we desperately needed somebody with the skill to fit on the team and the size to defend the crease and hold the puck even when countering a physical play style (or, in the case of the playoffs, completely illegal interference). Those are rare, and Kreider on the trading block should not be ignored. If CAR wants to give up Pesce for a return like this, then of course, take it and run. But I don't really think they do, and if we have the cap to absorb a $4m-$5m contract, given current rumors, it should absolutely be Kreider.

No no no no no .. god when will Tampa fans learn.. my niece could score 20 goals playing with Point Kuch Stamkos etc .. he was demoted to 4th line on many occasions .. he just a 27 year old rookie who is average 3rd or 4th line player that has 32M contract until 2026 .. could be worse NHL contract in couple years.

We need balls .. our D was NOT "elite" come playoff time .. with Hedmen hurt the other 5 pretty much sucked .. with exception of Colburn and why he back

Faulk is veteran RD with balls and leadership skills.. and he on 1 year contract.. it perfect
