Description
Since Vattanen got $4.85 mill per year, I imagine Krug is going to command $5 mill + per year. And I think Krug has the upper hand on the negotiations because he has arb rights, and B's have limited options in replacing his production. Another mediocre season on the way.

Okay, for starters, I don't like any of the free agents brought in (and in Stempniak's case, resigned), and you overpaid on all of them, maybe minus Campbell (but still, don't want him). I think Vatanen signing for under 5 million helps the Bruins a bit. They're very similar players. He's an RFA, so he doesn't have leverage. He'll get around 5 (like Vatanen did) and it will be fine. He's worth it anyway.

I hope to God that Minnesota trade is the SJS 1st and not 14th OVR. Wouldn't give that up for Brodin. I can't see Minnesota accepting that anyway.

Just trying to be realistic. I think you're completely delusional to what the market is for these players. Stempniak put up a 50 point season - a team is going to pay a couple mill. for that production. I know you want the market to be less for these guys because you're a B's fan. But what you want the market to be, and what it actually is are two different things.

You're wrong on Krug's leverage. Just because he is an RFA does not mean he doesn't have any leverage. He's an RFA with arbitration rights which is huge, as he can take the team to arbitration if they can't come to an agreement. And the arbitrator basically basis his decision based off points and compares them to guys of similar age and when they signed. So if Vatanen is a 30 point guy getting $4.85, and Krug is a 40+ point guy....well, I think that's going to drive it up over $5 mill per year. In a similar situation 5 years ago, Yandle signed for 5 years $25 mill., and that was 5 years ago. So, the Bruins options are too pay Krug what an arbitrator would award him, or trade him. Given that the Bruins need d-man, especially skilled d-man, I think they'll be forced to sign him at what arbitration would award him.

Well, you paid him 3.5 million which is over "a couple mill". He's not worth anything over 2 million and the Bruins have in-house options. I understand what the market is for these players. I don't see any players on the market worth paying right now, for the position the team is in. and Chris Stewart at 2.5? Give me a break. He has been declining for years now, and has been bouncing around. He'll be lucky to get a 1 year 1 million dollar deal. He certainly isn't worth overpaying like that. Please, don't lecture me on the business side of hockey.

It's all a matter of opinion. That doesn't make me wrong lmfao!!! I don't see the Bruins going to arbitration with him. The two sides like each other, and they'll get something done. He'll sign for 5-5.5 million max.

Sounds like you need a little lecture on the business side since you didn't understand that Krug has leverage as a RFA w/ arbitration rights. But stay at it. You know everything.

Krug and the Bruins won't end up in arbitration so who really cares? You post on HFboards. Must make you an expert lol
