12/50 = .24 [we make .24 trades a year with the Penguins according to your statement]

1.) I don't understand why we are paying Ghost an AVV of 4.5mil. He has yet to prove that he can play at an semi-elite level constantly, so the AAV doesn't make sense.
2.) Carlson is only under contract for one more year, and since we have ample amounts of prospects coming up, I don't see where he will fit into the system. It's sorta like the front court logjam that the Sixers had earlier this year.
3.) Voracek is worth more than Evander Kane, so I don't envision or understand the logic behind trading an above average prospect in Morin and then a higher pick. I also don't envision that Tippet goes outside the top 6, as I would take him as high as 3rd overall in the draft.</div></div>

1. Thanks for the feedback, Ghost AAV is about market value and it is more about a long term investment since we'd be buying some UFA years so it naturally drives the price up. He's probably worth $4-4.33M, but I up the price due to extra years. Elite level defenders don't make $4M unless you sign them before they are elite. If you wait until they are elite they make between $6-8M.
2. Yes Carlson is under contract 1 more year, and I'd be more comfortable paying him than I owuld be hoping the prospects pan out. Also, I traded away two of the prospects (Hagg/Morin) so there isn't really a logjam on defense at that point.
3. Yes Voracek is better than Kane. However, #8 /Kane is worth more than Jake easily - due to his contract. Therefore I added instant defensive help for BUF (Morin) who could be a great defender to pair with Risto and added at mid 2nd round pick to even out the value. I didn't give them a higher pick so I'm not sure what you mean. Also, I think Tippett could go #3 too, but with the amount of team that need defense and cetners he could slip behind players like Nico, Patrick, Middelstadt, Vilardi, and Glass - that's without assuming someone takes a defender too. Also, if Tippett is off the board I'd go with Tolvanen which IMO is being overlooked and should easily be a top-10 pick.

.. I know people are against trading Jake, and for obvious reasons, but I think since we lucked into this #2 pick we could really transform this team by staying relevant by making a few moves.</div></div>

Evander Kane and the 8th are not worth Jake, especially for the role that he plays on this team. You don't trade your second best player for a lesser player and a pick and call that "staying relevant". That would be called a rebuild.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mmc1710</b></div><div>I watched almost every game last season and saw a team that was so offensively disfunctional on the ice for a majority of the games it's time to look at the players we have. The moves I would like to see is just moving expendable pieces. Read, Schenn, Filppula, Manning, and Raffl are not long term pieces to this team in my mind. Couturier, possibly, but if he has alot of value out there why not explore it. I may have undersold a deal for him.

Alot of people blame the coach for this team's rut.....problem is it's been the same rut for 3-4 different coaches with alot of the same players...why not blame the players they're playing the game, not the coaches.

Not many teams if any can afford to take on Jake's contract. $8 million is a hard pill to swallow for 7 more years...

Plus I am envisioning moves that will open up cap space. I'm curious to see what Hextall can/would do when he has more then $4 million in cap space to play with in an offseason.</div></div>

Hextall has already come out multiple times and said that he doesn't like to spend on huge contracts in free agency. Also, have you seen the coaches/personnel on the team? The D in Lavi's last year was too bad to properly execute his run and gun game plan. Berube was just a terrible coach who horribly mismanaged Mason. Hak's first season was saved by Mason and an absolutely unreal run from a rookie defenseman and this year, his low-to-high offensive zone scheme didn't serve this roster well at all. G and Jake are both players that work best off the rush and that is clearly evidenced by their work together in previous years. Telling them to get low and send it to the D and then get to the net isn't how they're going to be successful. Take your two best players out of their comfort zone all year and the team is going to suffer. Not to mention Hak's questionable at best lineup decisions (Schultz over Ghost, VandeVelde over TK) throughout the year and his interesting goalie handling. Add all of that up and the coach does shoulder some of the blame for not putting the team in the best position to succeed every night.

There is so much wrong with this. Mason won't take a pay cut if he comes back (he won't). Shattenkirk is not going to sign a deal that short or for that low of a cap hit. Why would Pittsburgh ever make a deal with the Flyers? Why would the Flyers trade Schenn to Pittsburgh? Why would Pittsburgh take Schenn's salary when they're already cap strapped? That's a massive overpayment for Duchene, who the Flyers really don't need. The #2 pick is a golden ticket to G's possible replacement down the line and they didn't have to tank to get it. Why look a gift horse in the mouth? Why would Filppula waive his NTC only a few months after being traded and having a top 6 role on the team? Why would LA take on Filppula's salary? Why would the Flyers trade their best goalie prospect for peanuts? Hart just won his second consecutive WHL Goalie of the Year and looks poised to win his second consecutive CHL Goalie of the Year. What do the Flyers gain from trading him? If they did, why would they trade him for a mid-round and two late round picks? What do the Flyers gain from trading Radko for Marchessault? Why would Florida trade Marchessault after the year he had? It's not like his numbers were inflated like Conacher's and if they were, Florida would be looking for a lot more than Radko. Why is Ghost making $5,300,000? He certainly isn't worth that. Yes, he's dynamic, but he's realistically a third pair D at this point at 5v5. Why bring Weal back at $1.3M just to scratch him? Why is Lewis on your second line and Jake on your fourth? That makes absolutely no sense at all. Why is Brandon Manning in over Morin/Hagg?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>phillyjabroni</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bdinella</b></div><div>I think you are fine. Don't let any of the idiots (select few) lambaste you. This is all based on either your opinion or wishes, nobody is more right than the other. I differ in that I would hope Linblom would beat out some of the forwards for at least being on the third line. And for some reason I think the organization will go outside for a G with Neuvirth being traded</div></div>

Bishop is overrated and will get a disastrous contract if he gets what he thinks he deserves. Raffl hasn't player on the first line in quite a long time, and isnt really worth the money that we are shelling out to him. He can't even score ten goals this year and his main job is to score goals.</div></div>

Raffl was on the first line for the majority of this year and almost all of the last. Only reason he wasn't there at season's end was because he got hurt, which allowed Weal to come up. Raffl is the best fit we have right now for 1LW. His raw totals are low because of absolutely no PP time, but his underlying metrics are definitely first line worthy. Would I like to see someone with a better scoring ability in that role? Yeah and if Lindblom is the man to do it, then our bottom six just gets even better. I just have a feeling that Lindblom starts in the AHL unless he blows the doors off in camp. I don't really see that happening though because he's more of a "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of player so the flash may not be there. Compound that with the fact that he's going against Laughton (who is an NHLer on most teams that don't have a logjam in the bottom 6), Leier (who I think the organization likes enough to give him a long look), and whomever we select at #2 and I just don't see the room being there for Lindblom to crack the opening night roster. I honestly see it being a Ghost/Weal situation where the kid comes up and we all go, "Damn, why wasn't he up sooner?"
