I welcome your ideas for a better RHD at $3.5M or cheaper.</div></div>
I’d much rather re-sign Myers for 2.5-3.5M rather than trade for Savard
Tanev potentially takes a discount to come back to Vancouver (potentially more than 3.5M though so he might not count)
Alex Carrier will potentially be around 3.5M on the FA market
Jani Hakanpaa, Jalen Chatfield, and Colin Miller will all be cheaper and I’d rather have them

Canucks pass easily. Matheson won’t be a Canuck considering his history with Pettersson. Plus he wouldn’t be nearly as productive for us as he has been in Montreal as he wouldn’t get the top pairing or PP1 time that he gets in Montreal, and he’s not good enough defensively to justify that return.
Savard is a cap dump to us as well. We can sign a better RHD for just as much money or for cheaper
Not to mention if we’re giving up that much in a trade it would be for a star winger to play with Pettersson (or maybe a RHD to play with Hughes if Hronek priced himself out of Vancouver)

Imagine thinking you’re getting more than a 1st, a 2nd, a good prospect, and a young NHL winger for Matheson. That’s crazy

Tough Decisions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Lindholm probably has #1 center options in Boston or Nashville.
That premium forward would require Mikyhaev traded and he’s a negative value at his salary or getting rid of Hronek (who I believe important for your defensive structure). I see Ilya’s salary difference as the difference between someone like Guentzel vs someone like Toffoli or DeBrusk. I could also see Joshua getting more than anticipated on the open market.</div></div>
Yeah I think Lindholm ends up in Boston. Feels like it makes too much sense to not happen
I’d be okay with Debrusk or Toffoli or Teravainen to play with Pettersson if we can’t move Mikheyev. Obviously Guentzel would be great but I’m not expecting him
Agree with you that Joshua could get more than expected. Hoping he’d take around 3M to stay with the Canucks

I think Lindholm will probably end up leaving. Hronek potentially gets moved depending on his contract ask
Joshua is likely the priority UFA re-signing we make, followed by Zadorov and/or Myers
Getting a top 6 winger to play with Pettersson needs to be a priority whether it’s in a trade or through free agency

Pettersson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>Pettersson’s contract and playoff performance diminish his value. You wouldn’t get close to a #1 defenceman for him. You’d be looking at multiple other pieces, not a franchise player.</div></div>
Pettersson’s contract was widely regarded as a great deal for the Canucks when it was signed. A bad stretch where he’s playing injured and with below average linemates doesn’t change that. He was also great in the playoffs in the bubble
He’s not getting moved, but if he was the Canucks wouldn’t take a package involving futures. It would be for a similar level player like Dahlin or a piece like Thompson++

Pettersson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>No it wouldn’t. Be real.
1. You acquire Pettersson to play with guys like Thompson and Dahlin to help build the team competitively, not trade them for him.
2. Dahlin has no place in Vancouver. Hughes is already the #1 d-man and the PP guy so Dahlin would play behind him. That’s a step down for him and not where he’s best to succeed.
3. Pettersson is more in the Owen Power value range than Dahlin.</div></div>
1) The Canucks aren’t rebuilding so they aren’t trading Pettersson for futures. It would be for pieces to stay competitive like Thompson or Dahlin
2) Dahlin can play the right side or he could be the best 2nd pair dman in the league. Obviously it’s not the most ideal situation for him as he’s suited to be the #1 guy on a team but it could still work
3) Pettersson is far closer in value to Dahlin than he is Power. That’s not debatable. He’s a borderline top 5 center in the league. 90-100 point centers who are very good defensively don’t grow on trees. He’s worth just as much if not more than Dahlin, and quite a bit more than Power

I doubt Boeser will get in that 9-10 range. Closer to 7-8M. I also wouldn’t be surprised if he takes a more team friendly deal tbh
Hronek if he’s asking for too much will be moved
Garland was one of our most important forwards all season long. We’d use that money to sign someone and hope they’d be as good as he was. No reason to take that risk

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AlTintin1122</b></div><div>It’s Vancouver fans that really want Tkachuk.
You can’t call Staios and be like I want Tkachuk , I’ll give you Pettersson but you need to add.
If you want Tkachuk , it’s the Canucks that need to overpay for him</div></div>
It’s irrational Canucks fans that want to trade Pettersson because he’s struggling while playing through an injury and with offensive black holes as his linemates. Despite struggling for the last month+ of the season and playing on a line with Mikheyev all season he still had more points than Brady has ever had
A 90-100 point, great defensive center, who’s a borderline top 5 center in the league, and is signed long term is worth a lot more than a 70-80 point, physical, good but not elite 1st line winger who’s bad defensively

Ottawa would have to add significantly in a Pettersson for Tkachuk swap

Garland is well worth his contract. Canucks can manage the cap fairly easy while keeping him. The only really problematic contract is Mikheyev’s

Pettersson has 18 points in 17 games in the bubble. He’s struggling this year because he’s playing injured and with linemates who can’t do anything offensively. Plus he’s still playing solid defensively. He’s not like Marner in the playoffs at all

Doesn’t make sense for us to move Garland or Hoglander.
Garland was one of our best forwards this year. He’s great offensively, great defensively, and an elite play driver.
And Hoglander provides cheap scoring depth. Had 24 goals this season, all at 5v5 which put him top 10 in the league in 5v5 scoring. Having him at 1.1M next season will be big
I’d be fine moving Mikheyev, even paying a bit to dump him if necessary, but moving Garland and Hoglander for futures doesn’t make sense for us
