Pesce time
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sjbackseatgm</b></div><div>Why?</div></div>
2 2nds for Campbell, who will either sit in the minors or could be a decent NHL goalie again. Sharks don't need the cap space, and its a two year deal. Either its just extra assets, or the sharks get paid to get a decent goalie, don't see a way it can go badly.
Edit: waaaaaait, they just updated capfriendly, never mind, that is 3 years of campbell and 1 year of ceci. okay ehhh.

I mean, I would take that without question as SJ.

Who deserves to be back
Seems like a bad move for the sharks all around.
I doubt a player coming off of a competitive team will be happy to sign a long term contract with the worst team in the league, making him a likely 1 year player.
The cost for that being their top D and C, 14th overall, and the wildest of wild cards in Chmelevski seems like a poor value trade with bad intentions.

sooooo what is the incentive for SJ to do this, get rid of a ton of long term pieces in return for 1 year of a good player for a non-playoff team.

Lindell would be a good add for SJ, if... he extends. He also has a full NMC soooo leaving DAL to SJ is unlikely.

Sharks have no reason to trade all that for a player who would only be in San Jose for a year. Also 0% chance he waives to come to SJ.

trust me, the further 3rd round picks are from San Jose, the better. Since 1994, the only worthwhile 3rd round picks made have been, Thomas Greiss and <em>hopefully</em> Daniil Gushchin.

Why San Jose Why
Those trades don't happen unless there are pieces going back to make the teams more competitive. They are shedding salary sure, but they are also shedding the assets they would use to acquire players to fill said salary.

Habs draft
I don't get it...
They penguins aren't giving up their 2025 1st, especially not unprotected.
The sharks already have the penguins 2024 1st with top 10 protection. So the possibilities are the pick being outside the top 10 (probably by not very much), and the sharks have it. Or it is in the top 10, but 5-9 and the penguins possibly consider giving it up this year because they think they'll be worse the next year. OR the penguins are mega crap, and the sharks get their pick next year which will be unprotected.
There is zero incentive to move from a protected 2024 pick to a protected 2025 pick (cause there is a 0% chance that pick is unprotected)

Hertl in the offseason plus other stuff
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sharcuda22</b></div><div>Brother it is so obvious that you dont watch other teams at all. Name a single other offensive threat on the sharks roster. He has no support. Laine has been triad at center for like a month this year. The sharks best defender is Mario Ferraro, who could have a good defensive impact on this team. Ranking players is for the most part a subjective exercise until you get to extremes.</div></div>
He has argued against Hertl for almost 4 years now, I wouldn't bother.

I like how years later, you are still frequently arguing against Hertl to the bruins.

Moving on from Bunting
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KenHollandsGrandpa</b></div><div>i mean its a Vegas 4th meaning it will be closer to a 5th. Basically moving up 15-30 spots in the 2024 draft along with a 2023 1st to take on Murrays contract isnt bad</div></div>
if we took standings right now, that 2nd going to a 1st is only 4 spots up (28->32). Murray is bad and so is his contract. Not worth 4 spots (plus moving up much later in the draft) for taking him on.
