4th line needs to be hard checking that's it, many teams can run 3 lines for scoring so the Oilers need a good 3rd line

Building a Team To Win A Stanley Cup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OhKennyHolland</b></div><div>Last time, TB acquired Hagel for 3rd 1st round picks, didn't end out well... Either way, the main priority of this team is to find a good goalie and provide secondary scoring to McDavid and Draisaitl. Since Woody and Manson took over, the defense has looked fine IMO. Holloway had a strong performance in the AHL which makes him a lock for the main roster next season. He is basically our best prospect rn and trading him for Dobson ALONG WITH BROBERG AND ANOTHER 1ST is wayy too much to offer from Edmonton's side.</div></div>
I see what you're getting at, this design is based off the Avs and the defence pairings for all the spots including, Toews-Makar, Byram-Johnson, Girard-Manson. So I got Oilers all defencemen in their prime and elite. Living up to the Defence wins Championship style. Oilers can get away with it if the Bottom 6 is upgraded as the top 6 is elite already

The Oilers had a phenomenal off-season with only 1 issue and that was goaltending. This Roster doesn't address that issue

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OhKennyHolland</b></div><div>I'm not saying Dobson is a bad player. He is an amazing young d-man. But if it's gonna cost us 3 first round picks AND a 2nd round pick, that is a NO.</div></div>
A Mobile Right Handed Defenceman is the most difficult player to acquire at a young age. You can sign through free agency but that player will be old and on a bad contract, aka Letang or Klingberg signings. Or they are locked up on very pricey contracts but Dobson is achievable only cause the Islanders have Pulock and Pelech. It'll take an overpayment to achieve a Dobson Trade and Bourgault IMO is more of what the Oilers needed on a line

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OhKennyHolland</b></div><div>There is no way on earth that we are trading Holloway for Dobson</div></div>
The Oilers have no 2-way Right Handed Defenceman in the system with Bouchard being the Offensive Defenceman taking over for Barrie, and Ceci being a Defensive D man in the bottom pairing. Who picks up the big minutes and also produces while being safe in the zone?

Kuemper is 31 and is getting a mid-term deal here at 5 mills. Nichuskin grabs a $300-400k discount but he gets a spot with Nate Mak and sees success in playoffs by taking the discount

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>turtlemountain</b></div><div>I’m probably the #1 Girard stan here, but If the Avs are going to move one of their defensemen it’s probably him. Makar just won the Norris, Toews just finished in the top 10, and Byram is on an ELC and nowhere near his prime.
But the Avs also don’t need to move any defensemen and if they do it’ll be for a long term piece, not rentals. Otherwise, they can run it back with the same defensive core until there’s a cap crunch.</div></div>
Therefore, out of Kuemper, Kadri, Kubel, Burakovsky, Manson, Lehkonen, and Nischuskin who is gone?

I guess Samuel Girard will be the first D man gone in a trade? Byram, Toews for the Left side, Makar, Johnson on the Right

I agree on Byram not coming on a trade for Miller stand-alone, but Miller a 99 point forward single-handedly running the Nucks and costing the Avs around $2.6 million after 50% retention next season with Luke Schenn so losing Byram doesn't leave a hole on the defence seems like a great run at a cup next season if the Team is win now

I'd say they can be a Wildcard like the Leafs in 2017. Sens have Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson and Top 6 UFA Acquisition (Nischuskin)-Stutzle-Joseph. Not to mention an elite 3rd line with Formenton-Pinto-Brown. To round out Defence they got the most complete defensive USNDTP prospect Sanderson, Chabot the minute muncher, Zub the Wizardly defensive D man

Drafting one of Kemell/Nemec/Jiricek/Lekkerimaki with the 7th OA pick
Greig won't take long before he starts claiming a spot here too
Weird, I find that to be the opposite, even though that has nothing to do with Paul gone
My 3rd line is Formenton - Pinto - Brown though, not sure what the Sens have in mind</div></div>
I have one dream for this Sens roster, as an outsider I wanna see Nazar and Norris as a 1-2 punch. Nazar is an elite 1st line center and USNDTP is a very reliable program to base this off of. Here's some numbers in the program.
Auston Matthews ran a 30 goal 68 point campaign in 44 games with the program.
Jack Eichel was a 33 goal 72 pointer in 59 games
And a recent rookie to walk in with phenomenal completeness is Matthew Boldy with a 29 goal 78 pointer in 62 games
Frank Nazar is an elite player with 35 goals to be the highest scorer of all 3 above and 71 points in 55 games. Beyond the highest ceiling player available in this draft skillwise

McNabb is a bottom 4 LD which is exactly what we don’t need. And we are trading a valuable RD prospect in Thomson who we need and a 2nd too</div></div>
Hmmm, ever since the Nick Paul trade I've found the 3rd line to be the future weakest link but I get your point in rather losing prospects and picks they can sign those in free agency as those players are not hard to find. I'd think they package a trade for a top 6 winger and these prospects and picks might be involved in that case. RN i signed Nishy but he might stay with the Avs

Looking Way Down when the Oilers begin as Top League Contenders
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bluetomorrow83</b></div><div>Its more likely Bourgault just plays RW along side McD or Drai then driving his own line so early in his career.
Kane-McD-Yamo
Hyman-Drai-Bourg
RNH-McLeod-Eberle</div></div>
After seeing Bourgault's 2 way abilities I see him being more of a defensive minded elite sniper than an offensive dynamo or elite skating speedy forward. Bourgault will drive a line of his own kind and players like Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will be better on a line rather than having McDavid and Drai play with a defensive minded forward as they spend most of the time in the offensive zone. Bourgault has a very high ceiling especially for his draft position and cant turn into a Bergeron/Pastrnak, or realistically be kinda like what Shane Pinto will be in 5 years or think of Byfield rn and his elite defensive abilities
