8 year playoff drought
Why would Anaheim bother with that? We take the worse goalie, retain the better goalie down, and do it for no payment.

Wasn't a Ducks fan, Macs not available, and even if he was, Marner doesn't have that kind of trade value, Toronto would be the ones adding.
McTavish is absolutely untouchable.

Once again, Anaheims not interested in a quantity return. You want Zegras, offer quality.

You haven't, though. The ghosts of John Tavares and Jonny Gauedreau on the first line, the softest 3rd pair in the league, third line improvements that could have been made through FA with better options, pissing away our future starter for two years of Markstrom, the list goes on and on.
Not to mention how wildly the trades vary in favor. No one's giving up assets for the final year of Tavares deal, you outright fleced Arizona, you overpaid for Markstrom, and they have Wolf so why take Dostal. Just all around bad.

Sure, set the rebuild back 5 years and ruin the team while you're at it.

Don't know how many times we have to send this message north if the border.
McTavish is unavailable, full stop, end of discussion, no ifs, ands, or buts about it, don't ask for him, it'll never happen.
Marner doesn't have that kind of trade value even if he'd waive for Anaheim.
Marners already overpaid for what he provides, his next contract will absolutely be a problem unless he takes a steep discount, and at that point he may as well stay in Toronto. He's shown he's not the guy to build around, he's a perimeter support player being payed like he's a franchise cornerstone.

A 1st 3rd, young top 9 goal scorer and a B prospect seems like a fair haul. Can’t see any other team giving up anything more for 1 year of Vatrano and 33 year old Fowler.</div></div>
Picks three drafts from now, an undersized forward having trouble sticking his place on Toronto's roster, and with a massive medical history, and you want retention. That's wholey unappealing.

He trades Lysell for Zegras but Helenius for Swayman. Lysell is far and away a better prospect than Helenius.</div></div>
I'm aware, and I'm saying it's probably fair value straight up, but it's wouldn't be a trade we were interested in taking. Lysell and a 20s pick on the other hand is very underwhelming.
There's also the problem of LA not having enough cap space to make the deal work.

He's pretty much the same he was in NYR, just paid 500k more. Issue being Anaheim can't take on a RW without moving one out, we're not moving Terry for Necas, and no one's wanting Killorn the other way.

Compared to McTavish, he very much is. Verbeek hasn't drafted a single player below 6' while in Anaheim, he wouldn't have interest in Rossi.

We can get third pairing guys in FA, and have better DD in the pipeline already.
Dvorak is owed way more money than his cap hit, and he's overpaid at his cap hit, it's going to be incredibly hard to convince a small market team to take him.

McTavish is completely untouchable, especially for a Smurf. Verbeeks trying to build a team that's hard to play against, installing a 5'9" 2C is antithetical to that goal.

Cool story bro. He's a 23 year old who had his season derailed by injuries, he'll be fine next year, and unlike Toronto, were under no pressure to make a change.

There's no sense trading Z for a guy knocking on the door of 30 who's contract has a good chance to become a problem before it's over. If Z gets traded for someone it's going to be a 25 year old or younger.
