MN wasn't going to sign Pillar this summer, so they're kicking the 4th down the road for 74k

I think the Greenway trade makes sense and 4M for Boeser is about right. I would probably go for it, even though the Wild will need the cap space in the next two years.

I like the way you think, but Greenway hasn't been scoring this year at all and has been very weak in the corners. So maybe a 2nd, but Id be surprised if it's a 1st.
Reavo was basically cut before the Wild acquired him for a 4th rd pick and he hasn't improved. He has 1 fight with the Wild in 3 months and very few hits.

I'd rather leave Addison with Brodin and try Merrill - Goli than increase Dumba's time on the blueline. He looks lost right now. They're not going to sit Dumba, so I figure you hide him with Ek.
Plus how is Shaw, Rossi, Boldy punishing Boldy? There's nowhere else to put him right now. Boldy and Ek don't seem to fit together. Shaw is looking more and more like Foligno. So let's see how it goes.

Just a question
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Funny you posted this, was actually thinking about this exact swap last night. You bring up an interesting point about certainty, Russo has mentioned Billy like certainty multiple times. Example A is the Parise/Suter buyouts. We could have just kept them on the roster and hoped they didn't retire so we weren't screwed with cap recapture, but Billy took the certain route and bought them out. He has also signed a few players to very long-term deals (Ek, Brodin, and Spurgeon). Also the Hartman and Middleton conrtacts had a bit more term than you'd typically see.
Still not sure what to think. It's probably fair.</div></div>
It's fair, but I wouldn't do it. KK hits his next contract right after the cap penalty ends. So, if we need to increase him to 15M/yr at that point we could. Cost certainty doesn't matter if you have the cap space to afford players.

Puljujarvi just hasn't been able to unlock that offensive potential in the NHL but we all know he has it based on his season in Liiga. I like the idea of buying low, if Talbot wants out we're better off making a move like this than getting a 3rd or something next year. I'd prefer to swing higher on someone like Necas (or Dach before he was moved), but Puljujarvi isn't a bad option, we could definitely use a right shot player who has scoring potential.</div></div>
What about Evan Rodrigues? Right shot, RW, who put up 14 goals with the Pens last year. He's 25 and had a 1 year 1M contract last year. I think we could get him for 2-3M AAV.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>If that's what the organization believes, then they should trade him while he still has value. Addison isn't tiny either, he's 5'11".</div></div>
I don't know that I believe NHL height data. But on Barreiro a few weeks ago, GMBG stated in response about our defensemen that "Dumba plays like a big guy, but he's not that big. I know he's listed at 6 foot or whatever, but he's not one of these huge guys for how he hits people. We've got alot of smaller guys on the D line."
It's in the same interview where he got hot about everyone saying we should trade Dumba.

I think there's a pretty good chance Addison plays a bigger role this year and we'll have to pay him a lot more than $850k. Addison should also be a full-time NHL'er by 23-24 so there's no reason to sign Cole.</div></div>
I don't think Addison is going to make it with the Wild. What I'm gathering is that he's too small and doesn't go to the hard areas. All of our top defense are small, except CM now. So, I think they'll likely have to trade him.

I like Dumba a lot, think he's a great guy for the locker room, does a ton for the community, and he plays tough minutes for us but he also is prone to dumb mistakes and he hasn't been the same offensively since tearing his pec so frankly if he wants $6M+ AAV again, I'd let him walk.</div></div>
I expect Dumba to be a 4Mx3 guy. Give him a chance to get his offense back on track as he's gets into his 30s. I think he'd take it. He loves it here and GMBG loves him.

Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>I think Miller is just an objectively better player than Fiala (particularly in the playoffs), period, so aside from the positional value this would be a better roster, in my opinion.
We have about $20M in space next offseason with this trade. Say Miller gets $8M, that leaves $12M remaining. Russo's article today mentioned a possible bridge deal for Body around 2-3 years at $3-3.5M AAV. It was complete speculation, but let's say he's right and Boldy signs a 3 year, $3.5M AAV contract which leaves us $8.5M. Rossi is on his ELC for 3 more seasons including next and we are essentially free from any cap penalties due to Parise/Suter by the time his extension would kick in. For simplicity, I'll count ELC deals as $1M, so that's Rossi, Faber, and Wallstedt leaving us with $5.5M in cap space to re-sign/replace Gaudreau, Duhaime, Talbot, Kulikov, and a depth forward. I think all of those guys you could re-sign/replace with players around $1M AAV. There's probably an extra $500K or so due to my rounding on ELC's - either way it's tight, but doable.</div></div>
You're definitely right on the ELCs. I forgot that Rossi will be on ELC so long. Also there's Beckman who could come up in 23 and make another ELC during the crunch.
Also signing Flower at 3.5Mx2 means that he could have Talbot's contract slot in 23 and not disrupt the plan. If Wallstedt is ready for G2 duties in 23, now we're talking!
Maybe this isn't as dire as I thought? I mean I knew we'd navigate it, but I didn't expect to be this hopeful about our chances.

I could see us doing this. It makes the whole lineup better in a way that Fiala wouldn't simply because Miller is a C.
Would we have space to sign him for 7-8M AAV on an extension? Even with letting Dumba walk and Wallstedt at G2 in 2023, we still need to sign Boldy and Rossi to extensions within the cap crunch timeframe.

Necas Fiala Swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Canes don't have the cap to make this work. Also, Fiala should not get the same deal as Svechnikov. Necas isn't a center, let alone a 1st line Center. If he was a 1C, he'd be worth MILES more than Fiala. If you want Suzuki, the pick needs to be dropped a few rounds. Hell, without Suzuki, I doubt the 1st is included. Necas had the worst year of his career, Fiala had the best. Both are likey to not repeat this kind of season. I really don't like this. Fiala's got too many question marks for Carolina. They'll likely take a run at Gaudreau or Forsberg instead. It's only 1-3 million more and is FAR cheaper in terms of assets.</div></div>
I like all of these trades, which I think means there's no way it's going to happen :) So I think the Canes are safe here

Everything <a href="/users/Ecce" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Ecce</a> said about contracts. Also, Middleton will get 3M this year not the 1.2M you've signed him for. I don't think the math works with just trading Dumba to get Fiala. We'd have to cut more.
