Leafs after the Draft
Rangers have no need for Holl (Lundkvist, DeAngelo, Fox, Trouba all on right side).
Thats a waste of money on Calvert. Id take Foligno tho.. use that Calvert money for actual goalie and dont rush Scott.

Better balance from a non Leafs fan

Byram will be better in the long run with his tool kit.
Ignoring cap flexibility.
Compher is very solid.
Covid $’s are very valuable in these times.
Willy won’t fetch a top 2 proven D but Byram will be one day. Willy is one dimensional on a good contract & the most logical to be moved. If Av’s had a 2nd I’d swap it in.
My logic is not many D could be had especially RHD. Bite the bullet a bit for long term gain & depth.
Compher could become a 3C in the future instead of old fogies & more wingers develop.</div></div>
Byram is left shot left side defenseman. Just like Sandin. Him and Sandin are as close to each other as its possible. Willy one dimensional? In what universe? He is not getting moved. If its 1st with Compher Id bite.
Compher is solid. He is mid-6 player tho and mostly winger. Nylander is top line guy.
This is not even close.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>Gotcha. Agreed. He shouldn't be traded. Very underrated player.</div></div>
Yeah. And very positionally versatille. But if you can gain one of Lambos, Power, Clarke.. that would make sense since those guys are future #1 Dmen. That, 2022 1st or trade for current top pair D would make sense, other things naaah..

William Nylander Pipe Dream
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>What do the Leafs gain with a top 5 pick in a weak-ish draft? trading Nylander would stunt the team a large margin and a player who's a year away can't help too much. Just curious there.</div></div>
Weak-ish on offense.. They would gain top pairing Dman either right or left shot one.. top-5 Dmen in 2021 are all future top pairing studs so.. thats what they would gain. They shouldnt trade Nylander but for that it would sort of make sense (if it even does make sense in very few cases, since would be ****ing stupid to trade him)..

Fox+ I guess but then again.. Fox would likely not sign in Toronto so.. if you have like 5th overall pick next year, that would be worth it.

A whole lot of nothing when it comes to actual defense and not just being good offensive guys.. Jones is the only one who I would clasify as two-way defenseman.

Hey! Trade Elvis to Toronto for Alex Kerfoot. That gives you cheaper 2/3C and you dont need to sign Stepan and you can use Domi as 2C and Kerf as 3C if you wish to do so.. Rangers has their tandem, Leafs are losing Fred after season

Why would he trade Nylander for him if he didnt have agreement about re-signing there in first place?
Also we dont need Hamonic or to trade Brodie/Rielly.

Cap Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Lesser player? Laughton plays all three positions. Had similar offensive stats in less games, similar age, saves 1.2mil, much better two way player, and plays a type of game the leafs lack with grit and hitting. Better than Kerfoot, and would be perfect for leafs as they lack bottom six pk'ers, physicality and two way play.
Kerfoot might have the higher offensive upside, but what the leafs lacked last year was team defense, and bringing thornton and Simmonds in didn't help that.</div></div>
Kerfoot is much better two-way player than Laughton, when you talk about information with actual evidence (not just "Laughton plays more PK, therefore he is better defensively" type of bs) (take a closer look here: <a href="https://public.tableau.com/profile/bill.comeau#!/vizhome/SKATR2019-2020/SKATR" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://public.tableau.com/profile/bill.comeau#!/vizhome/SKATR2019-2020/SKATR</a> ). Played extremely well on PK when he started to play that position on Leafs towards the end of the season and he is feisty. Offensively, in last 3 years, Laughton scored at pretty fine pace of 0.37 points per game, which is equivalent of 30-point season, thats fine for bottom-6 forward.. Kerfoot scored at pace of 0.51 points per game, which is equivalent of 42-point season, thats a middle-6 production. And yes, he makes 1.2M more, but for 2 more seasons.
I would do Kerfoot for Laughton deal still, but Philly would need to add to Laughton..
