<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juice</b></div><div>If you think Matthews is the first guy the leafs would trade away to get under the cap then that's just wishful thinking. They absolutely have room to sign all three. Even if Matthews gets $12.5, Marner gets $10 and Nylander gets $8m. Just means that they couldn't go out and bring in any big names.</div></div>
There is no way Toronto can keep all 3 of them even with the cap space they have, especially when they are interested in Tavares. I think trading Matthews would pay out in spades. His value is through the roof and will fetch a massive return that can address the problem on the blueline, Andersen is inconsistent, bringing in a guy like Hutton in free agency would work out very well. I can see a Matthews trade being something like
Vancouver receives:
A. Matthews
Toronto receives:
B. Boeser
T. Demko
2019 1st
Boeser would be able to fit right in, and Tavares can be signed to a 2 year deal to play with Boeser until Boeser needs his 1st big contract. Demko is a goalie that can replace McElhinney this year and in the near future, Andersen, then Andersen can be moved. The 1st will most likely be a good 1st given the Canucks' situation. Matthews addresses the Canucks' need of a center and allows Pettersson to play protected minutes for him to develop. This trade works out for both teams, since the Maple Leafs can let JVR walk, dump some cap and sign Carlson to address the defensive problem.

Matthews is going to be demanding more than Toronto can handle (about 12-12.5). Arizona has cap space and can afford him. Also, Toronto gets cap relief to sign some UFAs and make some roster moves.

You have a franchise player on an entry level contract surrounded by a young team the has made the playoffs 2 years in a row coming off a 106 point season. You don't mess that up</div></div>
Yes, but Toronto isn't going to be able to keep Matthews, Nylander, and Marner. The best option is sell high on Matthews with his value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beanie2911</b></div><div>Here is what the leafs get for franchise superstar, 40 goal scorer as a rookie, Auston Matthews. Dylan Strome, the number 3 pick from a few years ago who has yet to make an impact in the NHL. A 14 point defenseman who is not bad but looks like a second pairing defenseman, a 37 point forward, and a guy who has 13 points in 83 career games. And Max Domi coming off back to back 9 goal seasons. Basically, a playoff team trades their best player, a guy who had 40 goals as a rookie and scored on a 45 goal pace this year, netting 34 goals in only 62 games, plays a 200 foot game, was second in goals per game this season and first in goals at even strength for 5 guys who have yet to prove they belong in a teams top 6 forwards, an ok defenseman and a first round pick. Make sense to you?</div></div>
It does make sense to me, Strome, Chychrun, Dvorak, Domi, and even Crouse have big ceilings. The 1st is what Toronto wants in this deal, as they can draft a defenseman to take the place of Gardiner.

I believe Arizona overpaid in this trade. Strome still has potential, yes he hasn't made an impact, but he's still young and has loads of potential left. Chychrun is solid, and like Strome, still has loads of potential. Same goes for Dvorak. Crouse is a big guy that adds a defensive game to the Leafs lineup. Domi has made an impact, and will be great in Toronto. The 1st can turn into anything. However, if Arizona is getting their #1 center, Stepan has to be going the other way. 5 stars, this is a trade I can see Toronto taking, especially when they need to sign Nylander and Marner.

Trading Letang and Phil Kessel
Nylander isn't getting moved from Toronto any time soon. Him, Matthews and Marner are basically untouchable. The Colorado trade is horrifying... I've said it many times before and I'll say it again, Hagelin is purely a cap dump, he isn't good at all, and to get a 2nd round pick from him in a good draft is mind boggling. Hunwick isn't even worth a 7th round pick.

Third line AHLer three years after his draft.</div></div>
Well, getting a lottery pick isn't exactly contention... I like Senyshyn's speed. He is a couple years away from breaking into the NHL, but I can see when he does, he will make an impact. He has great speed and a good shot. As we all know, speed is a key factor in today's NHL.

Tyler Johnson and Tavares
Why does everybody keep trading prospects to Tampa Bay for prospects? Tampa Bay's in a win window, and Johnson has been huge for them. If he does get traded it would be for players than can make an immediate impact. But seeing Tampa's depth, I can't imagine what a traded would look like.

Drouin Trade
Drouin isn't leaving Montreal, especially with Bergevin in charge. I wouldn't trade Drouin given he was just signed for 6 years. Plus he isn't a center naturally, he's always been a winger, playing him on a line with Pacioretty and Tavares would be killer, especially if Pacioretty figures out how to play like himself again.

Tavares?
Not sure why Anaheim would sign Tavares, they have Getzlaf, Rakell, Kesler already with a good center prospect in Terry. Carolina would want more for Teuvo. Maybe the Ritchie and the 2020 4th package could work for them. I like Ritchie, he's still young and has shown signs of greatness. However, I'd rather have Ritchie than Teuvo. Other than that I think it looks good. Still wouldn't trade Eaves for another defenseman.

I think it's fair, it gives both teams what they need. Boston needs more defensive depth, and Edmonton based on this past season are still rebuilding and could really use a guy like Senyshyn.

Hagelin is a pure cap dump, he sucks! Beaulieu is a decent defenseman. Especially trading Hagelin to Buffalo, a rebuilding team is not going to happen. Ekholm is worth a lot more than a slower than molasses defenseman in Maatta and Micheal Ferland.

You're also -569,688$ with an expiring Hanifin and Hornqvist. I've heard that Hanifin is most likely being shipped to Boston as Boston tried to move up to get him.

Don't think that Carolina will go for this trade. They NEED to get equal or more value back. I think that a better option would be Hanifin, but based on what I've seen, it seems like a trade with Boston for Hanifin seems like what will happen. Hunwick is complete garbage, you can't get a 7th for him. As for Hagelin, I don't think Vegas will trade Lindberg, a 2nd and a 4th for a cap dump.

I've seen some prospects come out of the draft with 93+ speed. It does seem like as you get further along in your franchise mode, the prospects do get a lot faster. I think the highest speed I've seen out of the draft is 97! Also can you include overalls for the generated players?

I like the idea of Tavares going to New Jersey. ESPN had an article with 8 potential teams that he could go to. They are...
Back to the Islanders
Tampa Bay
Toronto
Montreal
Detroit
San Jose
Rangers
Vancouver
Islanders - This would be a great move by them, but probably won't happen because of Barzal.
Tampa Bay - Tavares would be playing second fiddle to Stamkos, but with the cap situation, I doubt it happens.
Toronto - Same as Tampa Bay, but instead of Stamkos, it's Matthews.
Montreal - Probably where he ends up. Montreal desperately needs a number 1 center and they get just that in Tavares. Signing Tavares can bring the Habs back to contention.
Detroit - Great way to really get the rebuild going. Detroit also needs a number 1 center.
San Jose - Signing Tavares would be huge to San Jose. He would make this team a perennial threat.
Rangers - Can't see this happening. The Rangers are starting a rebuild, and signing a 27 year old to a long term deal doesn't help.
Vancouver - This would be a great signing. Pettersson is coming in and playing him with Tavares and Boeser would be huge for his development.
