Since winning the cup in 2017 he has made some bad decisions and has regressed this team beyond where it should be. Do you think his (somewhat) recent bias of winning back to back cups ensure he gets another shot for the 2019/20 season or will ownership notice his poor decisions since 2017 cup and bring in someone else.

I’ll grade my significant Rutherford moves since the 2017 Cup:

Reaves Trade: F: everyone knew it was a brutal trade then and it clearly is a brutal trade now. Pens could’ve traded elite talent in Klim Kostin and instead slid all the way to the middle of the second round to draft no upside D Zach lauzon over a guy like Josh Brook who went right after

Hunwick signing: C: I didn’t love the signing but I figured it was okay. He seemed like a decent bottom pairing. It clearly didn’t work out but at the time it made some sense. Can’t knock him too hard here

Hornqvist extension C+/B- I like hornqvist but that could look like a bad contract in a few years. I would’ve preferred to have went in a younger direction.

Sheehan Trade: B: gave us a good 4C for a fringe NHLer

Oleskiak trade (first): B: pens added a solid bottom pair D for not a whole lot.

Brassard Trade: B-: when pens made this trade I gave it an A. They acquired the best 3C they’ve had since staal and didn’t give up sprong to boot. I really liked this add for pit. It clearly didn’t work out but I can’t knock this deal too much because it was a good idea, just didn’t work; it happens. A lot of people thought this was a great trade for pit at the time. Not too mad over this one.

Sheary/hunwick Trade: D: if it was used as a pure cap dump I would’ve been fine but they pens used that money to sign....

Johnson signing: F- bad signing then; bad signing now, nuff said.

Pearson Trade: B-: I thought this was a steal for pit when they first made it. Once again I’m okay with good trade ideas that don’t work out. No problem with this trade. It was the right idea.

Pettersson for sprong- C+/B- thought they could’ve gotten more for sprong but they kinda rotted him.

Brassard/Sheehan/2nd+ for McCann/Bjustadd: A-/B+. I really liked the idea with this trade. Brassard didn’t work out and that happens, but pens were able to secure two legit top 9 players with term. We’ll see how it works out but I thought this was a good move by Rutherford and stand by it. Brassard only fetched a 3rd round pick so this looked like a pretty good recovery effort by Rutherford.

Olesiak Trade: C+/B-: I liked big rig but pens had too many LHD and needed to move one. Cleared cap space

Finally...

Pearson for Gubranson- F————-: I cant tell you how bad this trade is. It’s just so arrogant by Rutherford. He knows damn well jack Johnson hasn’t work out, so he goes and gets a (worse?) similar version who makes more money!!!! Absolutely horrible. 7.25 mill wrapped up in JJ and EG now. I’m at a loss for words.

So overall he’s made some decent moves since 2017 cup final, but 3 TERRIBLE decisions that could potentially put an end to the Crosby era. If pens miss the playoffs I want him fired.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Missouri</b></div><div>Woah woah! One strike? What the hell! Kovalchuk has 22 pts in 35 gms. Patrick has 15 in 40. Patrick is significantly younger but he also has lots of injuries.

Of course I was looking for a base. That wasn't my trade offer. Like jeez, this is why I never go out and approach people with deals. Cause people take it to heart or act like I just stabbed them with a ****ing knife.</div></div>

don't be stupid... and please don't cry about it either and try to turn me into the bad guy. . You can specify what your offer is if you're interested - nobody asked you to only throw up a base offer. I am trying to win. I don't have time to toy around with offers like that. If this makes you that upset and prevents you from making other offers then idk what to tell you. We've dealt together in the past. You know I'm a straight shooter. I don't play around with offering 35+-year-olds on 7-year deals for 20-year-olds. You know that. If you have a real offer message me on twitter or post it straight. But don't offer Kovalchuk for Patrick and then act shocked when I say no like it's some mind-blowing denial. The fact that you try to justify the trade by points only or that "Patrick has a lot of injuries" proves your ignorance. Kovi was scratched, played on the 4th line, and has already talked about wanting out of LA. I'd say the negatives are close to even but the upside is clearly on my side. I'm not acting as you stabbed me with a bleeping knife as you say. I'm simply nipping a worthless negotiation in the butt before it begins saving us both time - you're welcome.

With things starting to slow down a bit in the game at this time of year, I wanted to take this opportunity to send out a blanket message to everyone.

Simply put, I would like to extend warm holiday wishes to everyone. People tend to use this time of year to cherish spending time with family and friends.
For myself I'm on my own. No family, no significant other, partly by choice and partly because that's the way life goes. I was very fortunate to be welcomed into this game almost 1 year ago and since then have enjoyed the discussions, disagreements and even arguments with all I've engaged with.
It's hard to imagine that a group of strangers interacting through an online game can become "friends" but I do think that's what has happened here. Of course some of you have been around much longer and likely know more about each other, but I've always tried to view each of you as an actual person on the other side of the screen, and at times made a conscious effort to get to know a bit about each of you and your personal lives.

With that in mind, I sincerely hope each of you has an enjoyable Holiday season with those close to you and that you take a moment to look inward and understand how fortunate you are to have those people in your lives to share this time of year with.
So whether you simply have a GF/BF, wife, parents, kids no matter who they are make this season one to remember. Life is so very precious, and surprisingly short that nothing should ever be taken for granted, and life is made so much better because of the special people in our lives.
