That’s too rich of a price and I HIGHLY doubt Conroy moves Honzek. Flames would be better off keeping the Bigger Top Prospect. I wouldn’t Trade them straight up to be honest.

Rebuilding Every Nhl Team 5
So much craziness going on here
Dube’s not getting an extension until/unless he’s found innocent and even then, he didn’t play well this year and we have other guys needing his spot
Okhotiuk’s not worth anything more than League minimum and may not even make the Flames Roster to start the season
Flames have ZERO needs or interest in either Liljegren or Robertson and therefore their Trade Value to the Flames is ZERO
That’s a Very Optimistic Return for Markstrom Unretained and Kylington isn’t worth $2.75mil. The Pelletier and Wolf Signings are okay, hoping Wolf signs for a bit less though

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kadri_is_insane</b></div><div>I personally like the duclair signing idk why a lot of people don’t. I am also not a fan of Rooney lol but I would think Toronto would want a late round pick for calle and I don’t see the flames having interest in him again. I don’t like the graves contract. And don’t know how much tanev would want to come back even tho I’d love him to come back. And i personally would like to see a kuzmenko trade if he wants more than 5-6 years on his next contract and also a mangi trade even tho i like the advanced stats that Mangi Coleman and backlund line provides but i want to see some younger players getting more responsible from playing with backs and colesy like a cornato or a Pelletier Porier I would like to see with the big club but unfortunately that injury probably derailed his chances for another season. And in this deal what are we getting for marky?</div></div>
Thanks for the comment and input!
Wasn’t proposing any real Trade Values, those are just the guys I personally think are expendable
Markstrom should have been Traded to NJD at the Deadline; whatevs. Not sure what he’ll fetch now, but I’m sure we’ll have to retain on him to get a quality return. LAK might be desperate for an improvement in Goal if EDM bounces them out in the 1st Round here right away
Graves will be 33 just turning 34 when his deal expires, which isn’t particularly old for a Defensemen and there’s always the chance he gets moved when he’s 32 in the final year of his contract. With the Cap Increasing and it becoming difficult to find Top-4 Defencemen for under $5mil and the fact we paid Zadorov $3.75mil/yr to play 3LD, I have no issue with Graves’s contract at all. It’s forwards whose games tend to fall off more quickly after turning 30. Defensemen and Goaltenders usually are fine till they’re 35

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>I'm not even referring to Hughes. Marino, Severson, and Hamilton all played more ATOI. Graves is very mid, he is fine but far from a reliable 1st pair guy.
You are completely wrong about Markstrom. He had a very good October - December and an amazing January/February. His March/April was not strong but to say he sucks is flat out wrong. This is not up for debate.
I am not saying Wolf + Vladar won't be fine but it won't be nearly as good.
I think you are vastly underrating he w good Hanifin is and how badly the loss of him will affect us. I am not arguing that those other players played well but it's a very safe bet Sharangovich and Coleman are going to have a drop off in S% next year.</div></div>
I was talking/comparing Left Handed/Sided Defensemen
<a href="/users/MoxNix" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@MoxNix</a>. What do you think of Markstrom!?
Hanifin was decent but he’s gone now and signed for $7.35mil. Weegar’s his replacement actually, so now we need Kylington to step up and a Big Gritty Shut Down guy to replace Zadorov.
Graves would do that and is better than Zadorov in every way, he’d be a better fit and I’m confident would do better in CGY than PIT. Find me a Bigger & Better UFA who will sign in CGY and for no more than $4.5mil/yr
OEL is an option but he’s smaller and older, so is Kulikov
Dillon very likely gets more than $4.5mil/yr and is 34 in Nov
Doubt Giordano of TJ Brodie return to CGY. Both are even smaller & older and do we want them back? Doubtful
Wanna Bring Zadorov back? I personally don’t
Cole & Edmundson both suck
Scandella or Forbort maybe? That’d be scraping the bottom of the barrel AFAIC. Better to try Gilbert, Solovyov, Okhotiuk, Hanley or Grushnikov
After considering everything and not thinking of another Trade Target other than Jake Middleton, Graves with term at just $4.5mil/yr seems like a decent move to me. Sure he’s know Hanifin, but he’s not far off while only having 60% of Hanifin’s Cap Hit. Hanifin is for sure the Better & Faster Skater, but Graves brings more Size and Grit. Kylington will be the Skater and Graves will be the Muscle and Weegar does both, just a bit slower and smaller
I thought Weegar might be best with Miromanov, but you could always go:
Weegar-Andersson
Graves-Miromanov
Kylington-Tanev/Hakanpaa/Myers/Pachal/Brown
I think we need help on Defence the most and Wolf, Vladar & Raanta can battle it out between the pipes. I thought Raanta might be a good AHL Mentor for our new Finish Goalie Signing if he didn’t make the Team out of Training Camp or obviously a Mentor to Wolf and/or Vladar if he did and we carried 3 Goalies till we figured out which 2 to keep on

That's the point, finding a 1C outside the draft is next to impossible. I am all for seeing what Zary can do but you are trying to contend as soon as next year.
Markstrom sucked? He was phenomenal this season, he is the sole reason we didn't finish bottom 5 in the league</div></div>
C’mon Ledge, Sieges, Hughes essentially had equal ATOI:
Sieges 20:06 of which 17:49 was at Even Strength
Hughes 19:59 of which 16:44 was at Even Strength
Graves 19:57 of which 17:29 was at Even Strength
Graves was relied on slightly more on the PK than Siegs and only Hughes got any PP Time
Graves > Zadorov
Markstrom sucks. He had a decent Jan/Feb at which time he should have been dealt to NJD. He sucked all of last season and wasn’t anything great after the Trade Deadline. It’s time to move on from Markstrom who clearly wants a change of scenery
Give Wolf regular games and a Healthy Vladar another chance and they likely do just as well as Markstrom who constantly gave up easy and 1st shot on net goals and/or left the net or gave it away leading to a turnover goal. He sucks and needs to be moved out ASAP
You should give Weegar, Kadri, Coleman, Sharangovich, Zary and Pospisil more credit for not finishing lower. Both Huberdeau & Kuzmenko showed moments of brilliance this season as well
Flames are still just a Markstrom gone and couple pieces away from being back to where they were and even if we currently don’t have a 1C or “SuperStar”, we can win with a better balanced lineup that can roll all 4 lines and adding a couple quality Shut Down Defensemen to replace Hanifin & Tanev
Yeah, Markstrom sucks. Can’t wait for him to leave the organization. Can’t happen soon enough AFAIC

Graves was getting outplayed by both Luke and Bahl by the time the playoffs rolled around
Siegenthaler and Graves both struggled this year. Adding Graves and his 4.5 million dollar salary only would have made the teams bottom 6 even more barren to start the year.</div></div>
I have no problem with Graves at 3LD if/when Kylington or Poirier were to surpass him. I mean we were paying Zadorov $3.75mil to play 3LD and he wasn’t as good
I mean Alex Vlasic just got $4.6mil/yr ffs
I’m clearly a fan and high on Graves and his Size and Style of Play is all.

Both had identical playing time and Graves produced more. I like Graves more than Siegenthaler and I like him more than Marcus Pettersen too. Maybe if you still had Graves you’d have made the Playoffs this season?
Regardless Flames could use either Weegar or Graves as 1LD, who are both Physical & Gritty Flames type players

He hasn’t played centre regularly since his time in Nashville. Just because a guy “can” play centre doesn’t mean he “is” a centre. If he was a centre then Toronto wouldn’t be using an AHL forward at 3C</div></div>
TOR is on its way to being bounced in the 1st Round of the Playoffs again, so can’t really consider their lineup choices to be sound. Why they’re using Holmberg at 3C is beyond me lol, I’d be using Domi or Jarnkrok or maybe even Marner there personally
I’d use Jarnkrok as a 3C or 4C no problem. I think he’d play just as well as Elias Lindholm did for us over the past 2 seasons = Not Great, but at just $2.1mil, he’d be fine enough.
Like <a href="/users/Bast" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Bast</a> said, he was just snake bitten in his first go with CGY, but it’s a different Coach and Team now, so let’s run it back again if he comes for little to nothing in return

He was alright as a center and on the PK, but he was a bit snake bitten scoring his first goal as a Flame in the playoffs.
I liked Jarnkrok during his stay here, but barring trading out Mangiapane, and Coleman I don't think we have space in the bottom 6 for him to fit in.
Kuzmenko - Kadri - Pospisil
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Huberdeau - Zary - Sharangovich
Pelletier - Rooney - Coronato
Hunt, Duehr, Schwindt, Klapka, Greer(?)</div></div>
I’d prefer Jarnkrok over Rooney for sure
Pospisil is an amazing agitator, but he’s not really a Top-6 Forward. Huberdeau could use a Speedy & Skilled RW’er so bring in Duclair for him, otherwise try Pospisil with him
Hard to imagine shipping out Mang or Coleman and breaking up that Mang-Backlund-Line. Pelletier, Coronato, Morton or Honzek would really have to prove themselves to push one of those guys out imo
It’ll come down to who wants to extend and for what, so we’ll see what happens with Sharangovich and Kuzmenko first and then see how well Mang plays as all 3 are only under contract for 1 more season. Mang isn’t worth $5.8mil, but he’s still an excellent two-way forward and Sharky & Kuzy will have to prove they can remain consistent and repeat their goal output and production next season

Graves was a fine 1LD in NJD and would be the Hanifin replacement. Zadorov is nowhere near as good as Graves
Good luck finding a 1C. I’d rather see what Zary can do than sign Chandler Stephenson or bring back Sean Monahan
Markstrom had his moments this season otherwise sucked. I imagine Wolf, Vladar or Raanta could hold the fort down with this D-Corps

Graves is underrated and can do it all. Duclair can still produce and is well acquainted with Huberdeau already

He most certainly is. In fact he’s a utility forward that can be used to play all 3 forward positions
I think he’d be a good veteran mentor for our young guys, would add secondary scoring to that 4th line and he’s good at winning faceoffs, which I find to be super important, especially after an Icing and/or on the PK

Likely they and/or their wives/girlfriends want to be in better climates where they can drive lambos and where swimsuits daily or it’s the old arena, dressing room and facilities or they don’t like or agree with the ownership/management situation. Lindholm gambled on himself and lost, good riddance to him. Flames are building a new arena and the Team is content again, with Kadri & Weegar outwardly communicating their desire to stay & win in CGY, so the times are a changing and Calgary is quickly becoming a much more desirable City to play in
