2019 Offseason Re-do
Honestly, with the exception of line combinations, everything about this just makes sense. It actually follows the process we were following before this offseason. I like your ideas and really wish this is what we were able to do. This just goes back to the idea that we should have just accepted we were in a rebuild and not a retooling. At number 3 overall and a desperate need for defense, take the best damn available player! Take a center next year! Offense is not our problem!
Love you ideas dude, definitely would have written this up as a successful offseason.

(BUF/CHI) - Nylander for Jokiharju
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilersfan089</b></div><div>A 23 year old beat out a 21 year old? (6 gms vs 12 gms doesn't really win your case)
And what makes you such an expert on him? Did you watch all his games these past few years? Just going off stats? I remember when hockey experts like yourself claimed Rantanen was never going to break out either, but turns out your all just playing a guessing game with little to no actual hard evidence to back your claims. </div></div>
The irony of these two statements made within the same reply is hilarious.
You used stats regarding age and NHL games played to try to rebut my statement, even though Olofsson thoroughly outperformed Nylander all year at every level, and then went on to critique someone else for looking at the numbers rather than performance when your analysis makes it obvious you yourself hadn't watched them play.

(BUF/CHI) - Nylander for Jokiharju
I still can't believe this trade happened. I've been a defendant of Bowman for years. Understanding the hard situation he's in dealing with the cap. Shipping out Turbo to shed Bickell...ok cap casualty, I understand. Sending (2) 2nds for 4 minutes of Kimo...ok going for a cup. Sending Panarin to Columbus...ok maybe there's a Kane affect and heck we're brining back Saad and Forsberg. I even think he made some decent moves this offseason. This is just so upsetting. I'm not sure I can handle any more Bowman. I'm ready to let him walk after the 2019 season. This will be the indefensible trade that does it. There really is just no defense for not getting a better return on what MANY people in Chicago believe was their single best defensive prospect...ahead of Boqvist...ahead of Mitchell...ahead of Beaudin. Draft status means ziltch after the draft...heck look at Alex Nylander.

Let's look at just how bad this trade really is...
Aleski Saarela...22 years old...61 goals and 46 assists in 147 games.........he's a toss in piece for the DeHaan trade in which you gave CAR (2) players that were going to leave voluntarily on their own anyway.
Alex Nylander...21 years old...30 goals and 56 assists in 165 games...…...he's the only reason you decide to trade away a 19 year old Top 4 dman… IS THIS BIZZARO WORLD?!?!?!

(MTL/CHI) - Shaw and 2021 7th round pick for 2020 2nd, 7th round pick, and 2021 3rd round pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsForEver</b></div><div>It's a good trade for both teams.
Just hope those Shaw injuries don't come back to haunt you guys. At the end of the day, Montreal got to see Shaw's full potential and Chicago stills gets his prime years out of him.</div></div>
Well injuries is part of hockey, anyone can have it at any time, no one really knows. Yes its a good trade if MTL is freeing space for someone like Lee or Duchene.
One thing I'd disagree with you is that MTL didn't get to see Shaw's full potential, because unfortunately MTL didn't make it into Playoffs last few years, thats where he can be a true game-changer.

Yeah, I dont agree with this at all. I'd take this bet. Keep in mind that its VERY rare that goalies have back to back career years. Bishop was FAR better last year than his previous 5 years and Bin is just like Matt Murray. Cant take ANYTHING away from him during that run, but teams will now scheme against him and the real goalie will find his level, hes not the next Hasek. Opposing teams weren't able to do that well last year due to lack of data.
