Took your feedback
I've seen the idea of trading Trouba to the Ducks a few times and I just don't get it. Why would the Ducks want him on that contract when they are probably heading into a rebuild? Also, do people really think the Rangers are going to trade Trouba just a year into his contract after giving up a first and Pionk for the right to sign him?

The Rangers are not going to give up a first round pick in this draft for one year of Stepan

I'd trade him and Georgiev in this scenario but I didnt know who to trade him to or what they could get back so I just ignored it for now lol. Maybe they package Deangelo and Georgiev for a 2C and then let strome walk

I'm not sure how much you can bring it down. Ottawa has to buy him out.. you're trading him with an agreement that they'll buy him out so that the Rangers can resign him for less money. That's the only way Staal would even think about waiving his NMC

Yeah, I don't think you're wrong. Ive seen Larry Brooks of the NY Post suggest a deal like that a few times in the past and liked it, but you are probably right. Maybe Carolina would be a better trade partner for a Kreider deal

Both conditional 1st are conditional on both signing long-term with their respective teams</div></div>
Trouba is unsigned and signs are pointing to him not being in Winnipeg long term. Kreider is signed for a year at cheap. The Rangers 2020 first will also most likely be much better position wise than the Jets 2020 first. Your trade suggestion would be an overpay for the Rangers IMO

EK65 Trade, plan for 2019-20
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>doabarrowroll</b></div><div>I would much rather not take that Karlsson deal. I see no reason to give up so much for Karlsson when we're already having issues with depth, we're already a bad team and you're seriously mortgaging a lot to get Karlsson and eat Bobby Ryan. Hayes, Spooner, Skjei, Lias, AND a 2nd...you cost yourself more by having Ottawa retain too. I dunno, if that's what it costs to get him, I just don't want any part of it.</div></div>
Yeah, I totally understand that view. Im on the fence about it too. But Karlsson is so so good and the possibility of getting him is tantalizing. I think if they go after him, they have a plan in place. They wouldn't just go after him to have a star and not do anything with him. As far as how much I gave up... it is a ton, but I think the Rangers could get him for less. Just not sure how much less. Depends if he is willing to sign with Vegas

Trades with Ottawa and Calgary
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ItWasIn</b></div><div>To be honest I think Fox will sign in Calgary. Reports are that he is looking to get paid sooner than later.
That being said, I take this deal any day of the week if I'm Calgary. From an NYR standpoint you'd have to really want Fox because as a NY state kid if he tests free agency, you can just wait and sign him as a UFA</div></div>
The Rangers could try and wait but I think taking the chance he goes to free agency is a big risk they shouldn't take. And I would really want Fox. I don't know if thats the right trade but I think NYR and Calgary are great potential trade partners before/during the draft

What is your source here? I mean hey if the Rangers could get Fox for a third I'd be giddy but I don't think thats likely. But regardless I like Fox and I think Calgary is definitely a great trading partner for the Rangers. Calgary has no picks in the first three rounds, Rangers have a ton including three firsts. Something is there for sure

Tavares
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawkisles</b></div><div>-8m isn’t nearly enough
-NYR doesn’t have the future assets to sustain their current playoff streak.
-NYI is currently doing better in the standings. One would think that if Tavares was that insistent on staying in New York he’d go with the superior New York team.
I don’t have a problem with people making posts about Tavares’ impending free agency. I did the same thing with Stamkos and it’s all part of the culture if this site. But this is just bad reasoning. If Tavares is going to take this big of a discount for another team, it’s going to be for a team that he is certain will get him a Cup. Right now, that is not NYR.</div></div>
Lmfao "the superior New York team" it's been 6 games this season... the Rangers have been the better team every year for a while but you're gonna judge who is the superior team over 6 games? Ill agree that theres no way Tavares would take that discount, but chill with that superior team trash lol. Given the choice I think Tavares might choose a team that actually knows where its gonna be playing in the future. If it was a foregone conclusion he was gonna resign with the Islanders he would have signed already

Win Hank a Cup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Philu916</b></div><div>So letting both Hayes and Vesey walk is a thing? If Skjei is traded, it would HAVE to be Mackinnon. Sorry but Duchene is a solid 2C, and a good 1 C but Skjei + Miller would warrant Mackinnon. If Gorton decides both McDonagh and Zuccarello are too expensive to re- sign the following year, they need to have Skjei. Hate to say it, I love Mac. I would rather give Skjei 6 years right now for $5-5.5M than McD for $7M per year until he is 36. You can’t win a cup without good enough forwards. The team you have is fantastic, but the following year Zucc and MAC are getting big raises. Buch as well. I’m putting a 3 bc I don’t dislike these trades I just am thinking both Skjei a 1st and Miller warrant Mackinnon over Duchene Hayes and Vesey both walking for 0 won’t happen, if they’re traded this deadline than it makes sense.</div></div>
Yeah honestly I don't disagree with what you;re saying... the Rangers are just stuck between a rock and a hard place right now I think. They probably aren't good enough to win with their current roster, but I'd be shocked if they didn't turn things around and at least challenge for a playoff spot. There's talent but not enough imo which is the worst thing. If they aren't gonna go for it somehow with big moves then they should trade players like nash and grabner and get what they can for them, and then start a true rebuild. But it's New York and it's the Rangers so they won't do that... and you're absolutely right about Hayes and Vesey.. they would trade them instead of letting them walk for nothing, Im just not sure what they could get for them

I like that trade from the Rangers perspective but I don't know if they could make it work cap wise. They only have about 3 mil in space right now so trading Holden for Anisimov would give the Rangers basically no money left over and they still need to fill two more roster spots

What the F is the Plan Jeff?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BSpadaro83</b></div><div>Just dont have any idea what the hell Gorton is doing. That DeAngelo Skjei pairing could give up as many highlight goals at it scores with the stupid deployment that the Rangers coaches will use. Staal to Dallas makes too much sense after what Hamonic got for NYI. Nieves isnt ready either but we used to have centers and now we dont. The JTM Buch Grabner line will be a disaster many nights. Hayes isnt a 2C. He needs to be free to be an O guy, not a matchup C. What is the plan Jeff? What the hell are you doing. Either blow it up or go all in. This half ass crap sucks</div></div>
I could't agree more... they better have a good plan because if they half ass it and are torn between rebuilding and retooling its going to be a disaster. I know they probably don't wanna give contracts that are too long in terms of years so I think it would make sense to sign an older center like Thornton or Marleau. They are low risk imo because they wouldn't ask for more than 2 or 3 years. I would also sign Shattenkirk to 5 or 6 years at something between 6-7 million but idk if they wanna do that.. Idk what tf they are doing but it better be good

I highly doubt that would be enough to get MacKinnon. Staal is a negative on that deal. I honestly think you would have to switch in Skjei for Staal to make that happen, but would we wanna do that? Also, I would love Shattenkirk on that contract, but I don't know if he takes only 4 years. I think it would be more likely that the Rangers give him like 5 or 6 years and good money but frontload the contract.. maybe? I really want Shattenkirk on the team and believe he wants the Rangers but I just don't know what sort of contract they are willing to give him. I hope its enough whatever it is
