NJD add Dillon

I wouldn't mind DeMelo but I would rather have someone that plays heavier/ more of an edge. I thought Gudas would be fantastic as well but he probably wants and can get a 2-3 year deal and didn't want anyone signed longer than a year.

Goalie trade and pick accumulation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tintin</b></div><div>That Myers deal is honestly grounds for firing if Fitzgerald actually did that. Walsh is undoubtedly the better hockey player between the two.</div></div>
Nah.
Plus Myers would be the perfect fit: former 1st round pick, calder winner, hits, blocks, shots, plays loads of PK, might be cheap to get, and only on contract for one more year so doesn't block Nemec/ Hughes long term. Myers would be a more defensively minded Severson.

I mean a check for $92,500 and a chance to get that 3rd pairing D-spot over Stillman, Clague, or Bryson isn't bad either.

But Jack is averaging 20 mins a game; meaning he will have to take faceoffs. Hughes only won 35% of his faceoffs and his usage rate isn't going to go down.
It might be simplistic but in my mind, more faceoff wins means more touches for Hughes and more goals/ assists.

Opening Night
Hughes is not a true center since he doesn't take faceoffs and Mercer/ Meier don't really take them either. That's why Haula was on the 2nd line all last year.
So Hughes really should have Haula or Mcleod on his line to take faceoffs for him.

13 points in 51 career playoff games and got benched during MTL's & VGK finals runs. Tatar just hasn't shown he can play in the playoffs.
Also yes Lazar, should be 4C not 3C.

Lazar has the same amount of points playing further down the lineup, can take faceoffs, can PK, and historically Tatar has been nonexistent in the playoffs.

Haula should get resigned. Plus you need somebody on Hughes line that can win faceoffs, because Hughes still sucks at that.
I wanna see Mcleod on Hughes's wing: got the pace, faceoffs, size, and goes to the corners/ net front.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Tatar has been really good in Brunette’s system, so I think he has good chance of returning. As for dmen, I don’t really know who to trust and can be had for 1-year, so I just usually re-up Sevo. If we do bring him back, we could always trade a guy next summer to make room if needed.</div></div>
Tatar has played well enough to get more term, and Palat can fill that veteran role. Plus Devils currently have a bunch young forwards to offer those minutes to (Boqvist, Sharangovich, Gritsyuk, Thompson, Holtz, Clarke, Foote) see who wants it during training camp.
As for Sevo vs Graves: I lean Graves. No need to rush Bahl/ Hughes into top 4 mins.
Sieg - Ham
Graves - Marino
Bahl - Hughes

Mukhammadulin - Casey
Vilén as 7th.
They'll be more than fine trading Marino at that point in time.</div></div>
Gotcha, missed that.
I still think the Devils should resign one of Graves/ Severson though. Even with depth on D injuries still show up and younger guys can still get a chance.
Sieg - Ham
Graves - Marino
Smith - open spot
Plus with Severson's down year and if he doesn't ask for too much wouldn't mind resigning both him and Graves and flipping Bahl/ Walsh++ (not Muk) for a winger.

It feels too rushed to me. The Devils still had a 13 win streak this year; think the current roster deserves a chance to make the playoffs as is. Plus a veteran 3C or something minor.
Also the Devils have good depth in current players/ prospects in LW, C, and D. RW is Mercer/ Zetterlund, Bastian; Holtz is the only one I see with 1st line potential.

Why?
First game without Marino and Graves was probably going to bad for anybody. Plus the Devils ran through 5-7 goalies last year and the only one with a good SV% was Bernier.
Also why does nobody value Mcloed? 14pts in 34 games, hits, wins faceoffs, kills pks, gets a lot of the defensive zone starts; I have Mcleod as one of the top 5 most valuable forwards for the Devils.

This is just a step back to a years ago. Stop trying to rely on rookies/ unproven players to play prominent roles ie Zacha, Boqvist, Kuokkanen, Smith, Studenic, Butcher, Gusev, Merkley, etc.
Also Haula might even get a raise. He has been defacto 2C since Hughes cannot win faceoffs.

Connor Carland was a 2015 5th round pick.
Also a 5th round pick that year Kaprizov, Bear, Simon, Terry, Gaudette, and Vejmelka. That is a highly unlikely 5th round though. But who doesn't love a 5th round pick that makes is on to a NHL team.

Yes because Boqvist, Studenic, Kuokkanen, Johnsson, Zacha, and Tatar brought so much to the bottom 6 last season that the Devils finished 8 pts above last place MTL.
