Score for Buffalo! Could be an even bigger win for Vegas, but for now.... good job by Kevyn Adams, getting some value out of a tough situation.

I changed up the lines. Don't know why I had Paccioretty at 4LW. I think that made it look worse than it is.

Fixed the link. Thanks.
Is it better if they line up:
Paccioretty, Eichel, Patrick
Marchessault Krebs/Roy Stone
Janmark Karlsson Hagelin?
Too early in the year to go over the cap. Too late to wait on Eichel's surgery/recovery.
Lose depth at RW now to get under the cap and add a top center. If there's LTIR space at the deadline and everybody looks close to returning, maybe rent Kessel and Galchenyuk for a 1st.

Gonna wrap my head around it for a moment here-
BUF Receives:
Mantha
Kempny
Hague
Brisson
Tuch
Whitecloud
Elvenes
BUF Gives Up:
Eichel
Caggiula
Peterka
3rd Round Pick
$5mil of retention
VGK Receives:
Eichel
Hagelin
Caggiula
VGK Gives Up:
Dadonov
Smith
Pachal
Stephenson
Hague
Brisson
Tuch
Whitecloud
2nd Round Pick
The Washington part is pretty well encapsulated inside that one trade box, so not gonna chronicle it here.
Overall, I like the return for Buffalo and Washington, but I feel like Vegas are the losers here. A lot of players lost in this trade, and while Hagelin and Caggiula can help to pick up the slack on the lost depth, it still puts the Knights in a bad position, at least until Eichel gets back from injury. If they do or don’t win the cup by 2023 in this universe, this trade would be the reason why, depending on whether Eichel pans out for them and how the players they traded away end up doing. That being said, <strong>Vegas is the kind of team that would definitely do this trade, so I see this as a pretty realistic offer despite how complex it is. </strong><em>Buffalo would have to want to compete though, if they’re planning on tanking this isn’t the way to do it.</em></div></div>
Thanks!!!!
Yeah. I think it makes Buffalo a playoff team, and if Vegas gets their top line back off LTIR by the playoffs, they're the favorite.

If a package around a 7M LW is better for them than picks and prospects, they might have noticed they have a chance to make the playoffs this year. Cool. CGY should probably throw them a backup goalie who isn't 40 yet, if they have one.
If Stone and Eichel are each out for most of this year and then back for next year, Stone is cheaper than Eichel for that term, and then Buffalo can trade him.
Stephenson had a good start to this season. A bunch of Buffalo fans want to buy high on him right now. VGK probably ends up adding a pick and a prospect to this, but Stone used to have a lot of trade value. Might still.

True, because it's hard to get all the teams under the cap. I think you've got Vegas a little bit over. But wait. I'm gonna flip Mantha for Kessel and they'll be alright. Nope. I'm wrong. Still over. Even buried Patrick, Carrier, Eakin, Janmark, and Hinostroza in the minors to play Galchenyuk and Baertschi. They could dump some of the guys you added, but it'll cost them. Try again from their side, and give WSH some sweeteners.

You probably didn't notice, but I posted something like this an hour ago with WSH getting Peterka, Pachal, VGK 2nd, and Buf 3rd. Another Buffalo fan bargained down from Peterka and a 3rd to Ruotsalainen and a 2nd.
The other part of the WSH deal I threw in, that I think could be win-win, is Hagelin for Stephenson. Stephenson is a little bit younger, but Hagelin has one more Cup ring, and a third line of Janmark, Karlsson, and Hagelin would have two speedy puck possession wings feeding the puck to the great goal scorer in the middle, and all speaking the same languages.
If that leaves VGK thin at forward depth until Eichel and Stone get back, they can trade a 4th to STL for Brown, and a 1st to Ari for Boyd and a retained Hot Dog Phil.

Eichel cap solution
In another thread, a Vegas fan asked how Vegas gets through this year, with this team, with weak depth at RW until Patrick breaks out playing with Karlsson, and with weak depth at center until Eichel gets back.
4th to STL for Brown. 1st to Ari for Boyd and a 50% retained Kessel. Send other guys down and the cap should just barely work. Then, when healthy, top lines could go to:
Patches, Eichel, Stone
March, Patrick, Kessell
Three Swedes
Goons/prospects
Better?

That's interesting. WSH has cap space for that. If they have prospects who can fill Hagelin's spot on the checking line, or if Oshie is going to be out for a while, they could be into it. I mean, the pick seems high based on how awesome I think Hagelin is, but what do I know?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Buffalo doesnt have interest in Mantha and certainly arent trading Peterka for him, why you do this</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabres923</b></div><div>I don’t think it’s a good idea for the Sabres to trade way their best forward prospect.</div></div>
Mantha is a 6'5" power forward who led Detroit in points through the trade deadline. If you make a fair offer on him, you can be rid of Eichel while only eating $7.5M of retentions and Kempny, instead of the $10M copay on his contract's insurance. So making any fair offer on Mantha saves Buffalo $2.5M cash, and lets them be rid of Eichel sooner, and focus on this awesome winning season they're having. If they trade Hagg soon, and bring up Kempny, they might even be able to trade Kempny while still competing this year, but Kempny's $1M salary is hardly the issue.
You wouldn't have gotten Mantha at last year's deadline for Peterka and a 3rd. He cost Vrana and a 1st. And then Vrana scored a point a game the rest of the year, like all the Caps fans said he would on any team with a 1L spot for him. Peterka isn't Buffalo's best forward prospect. Peterka isn't even Rochester's best RW. Quinn is. Sometimes I think people argue just to argue, on here.

What the press says is that Buffalo has shared medical information about Eichel with other teams and that Vegas is among the teams still making offers.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Vegas definitely wont include Stephenson in a trade, that would leave them with Patrick and Roy as their top 6 centers for at least 2 months</div></div>
Patrick, Roy? That has a nice ring to it. But if they don't have any prospects, they can trade a 7th for Boyd and maybe a 4th for Brown to stumble through until their guys come back off LTIR. This seems like an easier discussion to have on the Vegas side.
