I wanted to keep Fiala too. But don't act like you don't know why that trade needed to happen. You could also argue that Faber was more effective than Fiala in the playoffs for us already. And who played in more playoff games this year?

Khusnutdinov will have played 3 years in the KHL. He should be ready to make the jump. Even if Yurov and Ohgren aren't ready, there's still cap for other players to play instead. I don't even have Beckman and Walker resigned in that ACGM either. With 3.3M in cap space leftover.

But you already have half the roster on ELCs. What has Guerin done here that makes you think he's okay with gifting guys on ELCs roster spots full time? Marco Rossi couldn't even make the team this year, you have Khustnudinov, Yurov, Ohgren, Lambos, Hunt, Wallstedt, Faber at the very least doing it next year to make your roster work. You still don't have a starting goalie.</div></div>

Let's call it 3M for Zuccarello, now you've got 7M to sign those 3 forwards, 3 defensemen and 2 goalies. Even at 900k a pop for those ELCs you have run out of cap space.</div></div>
do you want me to post a thread resigning Lindholm. Make a team signing him at 8-8.5 next year. With the cap expected to go up to 86.5. Its easily doable.

Let's say you give Lindholm 8M, and let's pretend all three of those guys make the roster out of the gate.
You've got 10M left to sign 4 forwards, 3 defensemen and 2 goalies at an average of 1M per spot if you wanna have any kind of space for call ups.</div></div>
with Duhaime and shaw expected under a mil. Zuccarello resigns on a discount. Maybe Daemon Hunt/Lambos makes the jump. Wallstedts rookie year as a backup to Gus. We could still even have 5M with cap to start the season or sign another player. Guerin knows what he's doing. We have a 3 year cup window with Kirill and it starts now.

The cap will probably go up more than $1m too, so yeah, I'd think they could figure out Lindholm if he would want to play here.</div></div>
as it stands well have about $20M in cap space next year. and with Ohgren, Khusnutdinov, and Yurov expected to come over on their rookie deals, we have space to make a huge move.

Thread:
we should be all over Lindholm situation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>I hate the idea of trading futures for Lindholm! In fact I think trading for any older player needing a new contract is a poor way to run a franchise . The problem is, because you just traded so much to acquire the player, you are forced to resign him for too much and too long because the player’s agent has ALL the leverage. Look at Huberdeau’s contract after the big trade. The last thing the Wild need is to find themselves in cap hell again with bad contracts and fading players. They will probably have one in the future when they resign Kaprizov…so trading for Lindholm is playing with fire too much for my liking. I want the Wild (almost) always trading aging players for younger players, not the other way around. This is how you manage the cap for the long haul and stay competitive for the long haul too! Bottom line, I would only trade for aging players if I am swapping aging players to get them or if the previous team eats a ton of salary. Carolina is the team emulate, not the way the Wild did business under morons like Risebrough and Fletcher for 20 years…</div></div>
this type of thinking is why MIN will never have a 1C. How often does a player like Lindholm become available? Once in a blue moon.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojohawk</b></div><div>Hawks won't use their 2nd of 3 retention spots for only a 3rd, rather they would save it for a bigger return on something else.
Hawks and Wild make interesting trading partners in general. Hawks have the biggest surplus of cap space which with the buyout penalties the Wild desperately could use. Hawks have cheap NHL or NHL ready players Tyler Raddysh, Roos, & Katchouck would be 3 that fill roster spots at minimal cap cost. Wild have a deep prospect pool, with Spacek and Bankier being pretty intriquing and some road blocks in front of them playing in the NHL (especially if you add Lindholm).
Maybe something like Hawks retain on Lindholm, send Trad & Roos for Spacek, Bankier, a future 2nd, Petrovsky, & Johansson (I assume you want to move him simply to lose the cap and don;t really want him otherwise)?</div></div>
I wouldn't do that but most hawks fans ask a first for TRad.

We could most definitely resign him. This is the last year that the buyouts really hurt us. I also don't see a way where we couldn't outbid a futures deal. If he really becomes available ill be disappointed if Guerin doesn't acquire him.

I just don't think a third is enticing enough to move him this offseason. A second I think could get it done.
