NYR16-17 Girardi and Staal to Columbus

Description
Any chance Columbus takes Girardi and Staal. Both fit Torts system. No idea what the NYR get in return. They could use some draft picks. I can see Krieder and Miller being traded for some D help this summer. Both have not developed into top tier players. They have been outplayed by Hayes, Lindberg and Fast.

    No. No chance. I'd go out in the streets and dance if the Blue Jackets even took one of them. Truth is if the Blue Jackets took both that would be the stupidest move in recent history. They can go out and get 2 better defenseman for half of Staals and G's salaries. All the D help we need is too move them both and resign Yandle. Then find a RHD that can take G's spot.

    Ideally we could trade G and Staal for whatever, and trade Kreider for Vanaten straight up. The D would look like

    McDonagh Vatanen
    Yandle Klein
    Skjei McIlrath

    Looks great to me

    If management wasn't such boneheads and had let Staal walk and trade Girardi for Etem and Vatanen a year and a half ago like the Ducks wanted we would have had a defense that looked potentially like

    You're not on a soapbox Pavel, you're correct. CBJ cannot afford 11m for the two contracts of Girardi and Staal even if they wanted them as players.
    The only way those two get traded as pair, is if lots of dead money comes back to the players. OR.....
    Jepper, the only way those two Dmen get accepted by CBJ, if the Rangers include let,s says Lindberg and Fast and Rangers receive a 7th rounder.
