What the Rangers really need is a second line center. Zibanejad was usually played over Stepan so the Rangers need center depth to put less stress on Hayes as a #2 center.

Try making this with the Leafs lineup. What the Leafs really need are centres, not wingers or LHDs.

Leafs aren't going to dinking around putting players in positions they have rarely played to satisfy the Rangers needs.
