Trouba for Tanev

Trouba wants to be a number 1 guy and clearly doesn't think that'll be in Winnipeg. Along with that, Winnipeg won't be able to afford his new contract.

Cap friendly projects

Laine making 9-10 million
Ehlers making ~5-8 million
Morrissey making 4-6 million
Not to mention when Connors comes in and dominates he'll probably ask for 5-8 million as well.

Hell your lucky they don't make more in today's NHL

Trouba isn't a top guy under byfuglien and he might never be.

Adding Tanev on the right side would give Winnipeg one of the best right sides in the league. Plus hed be on a discount from his already cheap contract. And last but not least he would be with his brother.

Canucks lose Baertschi one of their top forwards and potentially top liner this year with Horvat, best defender in Tanev and Top 4 guy in Hutton who all don't seem like they'll be apart of the future when the prospects are ready. for trouba who might turn into a top guy and a 2nd

IMO I think this trade is a win for Winnipeg right away.

But it has potential to be a win for Vancouver long-term as they don't have a top RHD prospect so trouba fills the void on the depth chart.

hard to believe that out of the playoff team like the jets would have so much trouble signing their rfas. it should be the Cup champs or contenders that have the best players should have cap problems.
besides the silly contract that draisaitl received, most rfas sign modest contracts. unless you're a top player, rfas don't have that much leverage.
I've never seen so much interest by a teams fans in trading a player like the canucks fans do in trading tanev. it seems more like begging, take me.
