Why on Earth would they spend this long negotiating to end up at this number? Seems like one side is being way too complicated here, most likely the Flames given the recent Gaudreau and Monahan situations

maybe he could or should got a few dollars more. but it shows the purpose of the bridge contract. prove your worth and next contract can go to arbitration. but he could paid for being an average player which he is.

It's probably Bennett's side; he was a top 5 pick and hasn't done much in the two years he's been in Calgary, so the team wanted to give him a show-me contract.
