Description
Trade 1
Think it’s a win-win-win
VGK gets another star forward. Most knights fans issues with Marner is the cap hit with the 3rd team retention they get Marner for the same cost as Theodore and fill a big need up front. Their D is already stacked.

Leafs get a #1 D and cap space to fill other holes they have. This is a cup contending back end that they haven’t had in a very long time. Reilly is a great D but I think on a cup team he’s more suited for 2nd pairing.

Chicago weaponizes their cap space for 1 year and adds to their draft capital.

Trade 2
Laughton is a perfect target for the leafs bottom 6 physical leader on a great contract. Might seem like an overpay from the leafs but they get 2 playoff runs with Laughton 50% retained. Jarnkrok and liljegren are good players but they don’t fit the roles Toronto has them playing in.

Trade 3

Avs need cap space and Colton seems to be the one they’ll have to ship out. This deal gives them 2 NHL players for the price they’re paying Colton. I think Robertson will thrive in a top 6 role. Hasn’t had that opportunity with TO. Kampf is a cheaper replacement for Colton. Not as skilled offensively but better defensively and is a great penalty killer.

1st to a 3rd team for 2 mil retention is a lot to give up but you get 3 playoff runs with Colton at 2 mil. Leafs would be stacked down the middle for the next few years. Could let Tavares walk or sign him to an extension around 4-5 mil and frees up money to sign Theodore, Knies, McCabe to extensions.

Marner isn't waiving. CHI declines, even if he does.

Why do Leafs fans persist with Colton trades? He has NTC, and does anyone believe he would want to join the Leafs over the Avs? Kampf certainly was a great even good penalty killer last season. What a false scenario for the Avs wanting to make that trade.

I’ve seen some stupid **** but “Avs need space” then promptly has them retain $2M per year, has them take a ****ty contract and massively overpaid player with a $2.6M hit, and another without a contract and you end up with a net result of COL having even LESS space then before the trade, a hole at 3C and all for what a guy that sucks and a first round pick in 2 years. Yeah that isn’t ever happening and the funniest part is that you actually took the time to write out an explanation, then immediately contradicted it, did the dumbest **** ever having COL retain and then still had the gumption to rip COL off. The retention is worth a 1st by itself, Kampf has literally negative value, and Robertson has no value to COL so basically you screwed them. So dumb.

lol do you know how to read? It says in 2 separate spots (in the trade and description) the 1st round pick goes to a 3rd team for the 2 million retention.

The trade is colton to the leafs. Kampf and Robertson (total of 3.4 million which is less than Colton) to the Avs. Leafs 1st to a 3rd team (Ana or Utah) for 50% retention.

His NTC doesn’t kick in until next season that’s why he’s the one most often rumoured to be moved.

Avs decline. Can't see them having any interest in those pieces for Colton and paying out the first for retention elsewhere would be dumb for TOR.
