    Why wouldn't Detroit just do that deal for Zegras themselves if that would get it done? Lol

    Because Detroit hasn't been linked to Zegras in any way this offseason and there is no indications that the are interested. Ottawa has been linked to Zegras and Detroit has been linked to Chychrun

    Sure, but if the cost of acquisition is that similar (it's not), Detroit would just pivot to Zegras. He is a better roster fit than Chychrun, they just don't want to pay the price to get Zegras.

    Yzermans not really known for valuing soft offensive minded players so I don't know that I would really call him a fit in Detroit. I think there is a reason that there's been no rumoured interest there
