ud be lucky to get saros at a 1-1 with marner. dude doesnt have much trade value u cant trade him to 95% of teams bc there rivals or he wont waive so its going to drop his value like no other. not to mention that 10m cap hit AND having to resign him for prob 12m+ after 1 year and running the risk of him just going to FA to test the market.

Trotz wants to keep Saros, if he wants Marner, we have a plethora of assets to get him

It was reported today that Trotz and Saros are working on a deal, and apparently close.

CGY has an imminent prospect who needs the starters net and Markstrom was in the way. BOS is cap strapped with all the players they need to resign, including Swayman. Both players also had trade protections that limited the teams that they could negotiate with and that impacted the return because GM's will lowball others based on that, because they know not just anyone can come in a outbid them

they both got traded for 1sts +.
Both teams were actively trying to find partners
both had nmc/mnmc
both the team had reasons to take less to move him.
nsh has non of these. they have no reason to move him, they have the cap to resign him, they have a young goalie they can slowly work in behind one of the best goalies in the NHL and they arent moving him unless they get a haul. moving on from saros + mid 20s RD whos played top4 mins on a cheap cap hit + 1st + 2nd + 3rd for a player who has maybe 3 teams he would waive to and not many people will even be interested in trading with the risk he comes with in the playoffs and the cap hit and the face he has 1 year on his deal and has shown in the past he will strong arm a team to get a bigger $? common man be realistic if nsh is interested and marner is willing to waive it would be a 1st + fabbro and maybe a conditional pick. u would never get fabbro + elite goalie + 3 full unprotected non conditional picks
