Hawks decline. IMO Murphy is better than Trouba and $7.2 million cheaper across the next two years. Getting Murphy for Trouba would take at least a first round pick worth of value, and Kakko isn’t worth anything near that.

I don't hate this from the Hawks perspective but I can't see the Rangers making this deal. It does save the Rangers like $4m in cap space, but Murphy has been a whole lot less reliable health wise than Trouba over the last several seasons. I think if anyone declines it's the Rangers, not the Hawks.
