Description
Using Adam Fox as a comp for Rutger trade.

The other comp is likely Cutter Gauthier, which is something like Holtzy+ 2nd instead of Drysdale+2nd

Oilers fans: i dont know McLeod's value. Tell me what it is if I'm wrong. NJ doesnt really need to move Marino, I'm just moving him to go along with rumors. Im just as comfortable keeping Marino if the value is off or trade doesnt make sense for you guys

That won't be competitive for McGroarty.

Definitely Cutter. Fox forced his way to 1 team, so actually no leverage.

I'm sure 25 other teams would offer something better than two late 2nds for a stud like McGroarty.

Okay. I used a past trade as a comp though.

For sure Cutter. Fox didn't have the pedigree of McGroarty and was forcing his way off his 2nd NHL team, giving Carolina only one location to deal with and was able to walk for nothing in a couple months as opposed to 2 years.

Holtz is not an equivalent to Drysdale. Closer to Marino and a 2nd, but that is still underwhelming, because Marino isn't at that level either.

Marino definitely wouldnt be given age and a big boy contract. But not Holtz? Are you very high on Drysdale or something?
Could always do one of our top winger prospects in Lenni H, who i imagine has somewhat similar value to Holtz

6th overall pick in 2020 vs 7th overall pick in 2020, and are we going to pretend drysdale has been any good at the NHL level?

They have similar ceilings at this point. Drysdale could be a good PP guy, who just barely plays top 4 minutes, while Holtz is probably a 2nd liner/middle sixer with peak probably being a 30 goal season if deployed the right way

I could see it happening, allthough i don't know the value of Marino. I'd expect that oilers will want to replace Ceci with a stronger RD, and if Marino is a solid defensive 2D, then that is what we would be looking for. A defensively responsible RD that is alright at puck moving.

As for Mcleod, he's solid on the PK, quick, and I personally project him as a Middle-sixer. He also is not one of our untouchables. We use him in the bottom 6, and he does not have much of a physical game at the moment.
People have a generally positive opinion of him I would say.

seems like a realistic trade offer, though I don't know how good Marino is

Drysdale is a right shot defenseman. It makes a huge difference.

So what you're saying is wingers have limited value?

I'll keep that in mind for Ehlers considering he is a 6 mill rental winger

So Rutger should be worth less as a lowly left handed winger with less pedigree than Cutter Gauthier?

Ehlers is also the best player available for trade right now.

Not 2 2nd round picks less.

Both things you said aren’t true. One because you definitely didn’t read what the exercise he was, the the other because Necas is still on the market

Necas is not as good as Ehlers.
What was the exercise?
Fox isn’t the right trade comp because he forced his way to one team. Rutger isn’t doing that.

So now you’ve both lost the plot AND are just biased I guess. Cool!

Compare their efficiency satats the last two seasons. They both had a PPG of 0.78 despite Ehlers playing 15:48 and Necas playing 17:54. 2 less minutes per game same offensive production.

Ehlers is also better defensively and drives play on his line more. Necas is somehow a -9 last year on the Carolina Hurricanes, which is alarming.
