Zeev Buium is a Hab

Created by: FarhanLuigi
Team: 2024-25 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 25, 2024
Published: Jun. 25, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Demidov isn't a saviour at best he's a ppg player with skating issues. He's complementary. Buium despite being a lefty, is a Cale Makar lite that shut down Celebrini in the College tournament to lead his Denver squad to the NCAA championship. Nobody has his upside and all around game. Maybe Reinbacher but he isnt as creative as Buium.

Buium-Guhle
Hutson-Reinbacher
Xhekaj-Mailloux

That is an unreal backend. The key will be getting all signed to sweetheart contracts starting with Guhle this Summer.

Montreal wont be making the post season but having 6 picks next year in the 1st 2 rounds will set them up for BIG moves that will lead to post season contention

Additional Details:
Montreal looking to be tougher to play against. Kane waives NMC Kane needs to keep playing in the top6 which he has lost in EDM. The move helps him prepare another pay day with his creditors still inn limbo.
EDM
  1. Savard, David ($1,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Oilers desperately need the cap space in 2025 when Savard goes UFA. That is 5.125M in savings to keep Bouchard and Draisaitl long term. Kane at 32 has clearly slowed down. Oilers need their low cost assets in Holloway and Broberg to step up as the cap squeeze will be enormous with extensions and raises due on an aging core. The OIlers need to find a way to dump Nurse as well as Kane. This team is hitting their mid 30s. The window will only be open in the next 1-2 years. Savard will give them their shut down 2nd pair that they need instead of putting Ekholm/Bouchard into the ground. On a short offseason, they need fresh legs like a Savard whos played in the easier conference for traveling and hasnt seen the post season in 3 years.

I understand the idea in the Savard trade but a 1st is way too heavy imo. He’s been injured a lot in Montreal and makes us significantly older. I would rather just dump Kane somewhere for a 6th and sign a player like Carrier who expands our window more

I agree that oilers need the cap space, and I don't hate the idea of Savard, but not for a first. Someone would take Kane for cheap, he's not quite at pure cap-dump level yet. Oilers first could be better used. Think you were close though.

Either way Kane at 32 and back issues needs to be jettisoned. Find a way to sign Janmark at all costs after he choose Edmonton. Brown was really good but again they need guys that will take less money. Draisaitl and Bouchard will have massive raises in 2025, Mcdavid in 2026.

Anybody signed long term approaching 30s to mid 30s like Kulak, Nurse, Kane need to go!

Taylor Hall was dumped for nada. Kane absolutely wont have value at 32 with term and his other 'issues' a 6th or nothing isn't noteworthy. Move off him.

Savard with retention is absolutely getting at minimum a late 1st and thats what it will be in another all in year. Savard at the TDL probably gets a 1st plus a roster player and B prospect same as in 2021 with TBL. David is coming off a career year with big minutes. Minutes that Ekholm/Bouchard will need off to get ready for another playoffs push.

Any team that pays a 1st, let alone a 1st+ for Savard should fire their GM. Savard has been awful defensively for the last 3+ years
