Why would we move trouba for Holl without getting a real replacement on the right side in any other moves. You can’t move trouba no matter how you and a lot of ranger fans probably feel about him cause his down year without getting a significant player to eat at least 18-20 minutes a night and be a big time penalty killer.

Schneider is the RHD2 to play the role you mentioned. Ruhwedel is a fine cheap RHD3 until the deadline

Why would we trade Trouba just to buy out Holl? Just retain 2m on the contract and get someone useful like Maatta.



I think Schneider's progress last year playing along side Miller when Trouba was out has made him a legit 2nd pairing defenseman. However, you are right they still need a RD for the 3rd pairing, Ruhwedel isnt it, not by a long shot.

Ruhwedel is not someone you rely on for regular minutes, especially next to Jones who himself isnt the most reliable player even though he showed some solid improvement in March. Colin Miller is who they should target for that spot.

Detroit would need retention because a player, a pick or a prospect don't help with cap space.
