Reason For Trade NYR:

Rangers Get rid of Troubas Contract and get discounted quality 3rd pair Dman in Clifton. He also can be a big hitter which trouba was at times which will help NYR. They have to give up Kakko & Jones which is a tough pill to swallow but the removal of Troubas Contract and Clifton’s Low rate allows rest of team to stay together long term.

Reason For Trade Buffalo:

- They have the salary for next 2 years to take on Trouba to replace the 2 years of Clifton. Trouba has the upside and can really bring a toughness that is needed on the Right Side with the good young lefty D. They also get Two very high ceiling young players in Kakko & Jones which sweeten the Pot.

Reason For UFA Signings:

1) Bertuzzi - Another 1 Year Deal for him, Slightly more than his cap last year as a result for a 1 Year deal with an opportunity in the Top 6. Also, Rangers can not afford any other RW options to long term deals with other coming free Agents (Igor, Laffy, Key)

2. Alec Martinez: End of Career but solid bottom left pair defensman who has won, can block shots and hit. Also another 1 Year deal which is key.

3. Derek Forbort- Another solid peice who will come cheap because of injury issues is an amazing 7th D man. It gives rangers real depth and security if defense gets banged up like last year.

Kevin Labanc- NY kid gets to revive career in league minimum deal. Othmann beats him out but is there if he falters to potentially slot as 3rd Line RW. Quality 14th F or Wolfpack star.
