I am not as convinced as the other 2 here that it wouldn't be worth giving up Vlasic for Necas, but i would certainly have to think about it quite a bit. I think the Vlasic contract is going to be an absolute steal after this next year. So it would depend on what a Necas contract would look like.

Judging from his 6 year extension, Chicago sees Vlasic as part of their future and the canes don’t really need another long term LHD with Nikishin on his way and Slavin getting an extension soon. Orlov plays the 2nd pair and the money from Vlasic is used to bring in a better 2C or top line LW.

Cool, you won't get him...#2 dman in defensive zone this season as a rookie playing 1st line in the toughest situations on a very bad team. Every team in the NHL would want him on their roster which is exactly why he's worth more than Necas

It's honestly not close. A first line rookie dman on a team friendly contract is worth more than a winger who's not a ppg player and will cost more against the cap all day long. What Vlasic showed is remarkable on a terrible team posting the 2nd best defensive stats in the entire NHL as a rookie. Necas had one good season with 71 points in 82 games on a loaded team

You do realize he's making $5m per year for 6 more years.. and had a whopping 27 points in 79 games, as well as being a minus player on one of the leagues top teams. No team is going to give up any assets for that. That's enough to end a GM's tenure.
