2025 draft is supposed to be much stronger. Is there a reason you think the Bruins 'need' a 2024 first?

Rather the Kings trade Kaliyev for a player that also needs change of scenery than just a 3rd.

Berggren would be a similar comp. Just saying.

1st, Wallinder, and Berggren for a 31 year old goalie with one year left, who's gonna want to be paid.

... And that's just the start.

Yes A 1st next year (20 something OA) Wallinder (a prospect) and Berggren for a 31yo Vezina winner who will need a new contract next year. That would be the price in this sellers market. Got any better ideas? Would you rather stay with Husso the injured seeve? Where else are you gonna get an elite level goalie for what? No 1st rounder? Good luck making that deal. If I'm Sweeny I say no thanks and call NJ for their 10OA plus some prospects instead. Or LA or Ottawa or any number of other teams looking for a goalie

You either want Ullmark long term in which case you pay that, or you don’t, in which case you don’t.

Dumb trade to make with Cossa and Augustine in the pipeline. Yzerman isn’t giving Ullmark the $6M+ he’ll want, with term.

Yes I do want Ullmark with term. Why not? Cossa is at least 3-4 years away from being a starter. Yes he'll be a back-up in couple of years but starter is few years away from that. so Min 4 realistically 5 years out. Ullmark for 4-6 years is just fine. You can always trade him away last year or 2.
Cossa this year 6 games NHL. Next year 12-15 games NHL. Following year a back-up NHL. (year 3 from now) Following year 60/40 split. Following year a starter NHL (year 5 from now)

Cossa is realistically more like 2-3 years from playing the majority of games.

So yeah, pretty dumb to sign Ullmark to a high dollar deal with term only to have him ousted a year or two into the contract.

2-3 years away? You're dreaming. Thus far Cossa has 1 year in the minors. ZERO NHL experience and you say he's 2 years away? For a goalie? Unless he is a reincarnation of Hasek or Roy or Sawchuk don't see it happening that fast. My previous post has a break down. Unless you point out where I'm wrong you should read it again.
2 or 3 years away is NOT happening. Unrealistic. Mean time we need a goalie. A good one if we're to make the playoff and make some noise once there. Ullmark fits the bill. If you have to give him a contract longer then 4 years then so be it. Can always trade him away when and IF Cossa works out. Let's not forget all the "saviors" before him. Jimmy Howard, Peter Mrazek etc. What is that saying about a bird in the hand vs one in the bush?
What's pretty dumb is to waste 2-3 further years in the hopes that Cossa or Augsitine (in another 2-3 years) will become something. Especially given the track record of this organization to develop goalies or should I say lack there of. Last time this organization had a good goalie is when they traded for Hasek. None of the home grown talent panned out in the last 30 years. Wasting time and prime years of most of the team in hopes of waiting for it to actually work is what I call pretty dumb.

Yeah bro, totally out of the question for a high end goalie prospect to get significant games in their D+5. tears of joy

Should probably sign Ullmark to 6 x $6M+. Goalies notoriously age well.

LOL yeah and they develop quickly. there are plenty of 20yo cup winners right?. And 6x6 for Ullmark the 30yo seems little long. More like 4-5x6 would be about right. No joke. By the time Cossa is ready to be an actual starter we're 3-4 years into Ullmark,s new contract.
Just for laughs, when do YOU expect him to be ready for a SARTER role? Next year? lol
1 other thing I've trying to tell you...Cossa is a good PROSPECT not a GUARANTEE that he will actually work out. We've heard much same hype about Jimmy Howard, Peter Mrazek and few others over the years. None of them were what we expect at NHL level, Just average and below average at best so to bet the farm on that guy and waste prime time of your best players waiting for him to develop is rather foolish. Just buy a goalie, like Detroit had always done (cause they can't seem to develop one) and be done with it. if kid works out then great. Trade away Ullmark but if not (and it is very likely given history) then you have an elite level goalie already.

Weird to talk about "20 year old Cup winners" considering Cossa will be 22 a month into the season and I said he'd be 2-3 more years away.

This is the kind of **** you say when you're just mad. tears of joy

Nevermind that you're saying a 6 year contract for "Ullmark the 30yo" seems long but 4-5 years seems right... Ullmark will be 31 at the start of the season and still has another year left, which puts him at 32 when you sign that contract, not 30. Jesus Christ dude. Eat the L and move on.
