The combo of dumping both garland and Mikheyev offset the dumping of Skinner.
And so
Pettersson for Tuch, Östlund, Savoie, pick 11, and a second. Seems a bit heavy.

It also leaves Buffalo down 2 top 6 wingers, and with 3 top 6 centers. Just no thought to what Buffalo looks like after a trade like that. The only way it would work to benefit Buffalo would be if Tage or Cozens were involved going the other way, and if that's the case Tuch isn't moving also.

Garland washes out Mikheyev negative value. Could go to any team just figured buffalo could use the veteran experience.
Skinner could go to any team. Cost of getting rid of him is Ostlund and 2nd. Meaning it’s Savoie Tuch and a first for EP40

45 point middle six non physical winger making nearly 5M. Yeah, it’s not a full “dump” like the other 2, but his contract isn’t ideal and everyone knows that.

Everyone views dumping as the same thing, and it’s not. It’s not just insanely overpaid guys, but sometimes moving guys that have what? Maybe late second round value for way less to make space. Skinner is better than Garland, but also 4M more. Nature of the beast. And even if you say Garland is a net neutral (maybe he is) my point still stand this is a gross overpay.

He also got Selke votes. He's one of the best defensive wingers in hockey. The only reason he doesn't play top 6 is because Vancouver is better off letting him control and drive a third line to dominate against other teams. There's not a team in hockey he's not a top 6 forward on purely by ability

He also has reinvented himself to be that. You know his defensive numbers looked like rasmus asplund, who you’ll notice is no longer in the league. Either way, again, an insanely gross overpay for EP, which was the main point of my post, but you won’t respond to that

Conor Garlands always been great though, he just struggled last year. If Rasumus Asplund produced like Garland he'd still be in the NHL. If you can't see the difference there's nothing I can tell you.

As far as "is it fair for Pettersson" I have no idea how you'd judge that. I wouldn't do it because I don't think there's a true "High end asset" coming back, you wouldn't do it because it's a lot of good assets, there's no real reference point to argue from

Garland “great asset” Tuch, pick 9 in Savoie, pick 16 in Ostlund and pick 11 this year “no high true end” got it

Garland also isn't a high end asset.

Yeah but he would be a top 6 forward everywhere, according to you, yet no GM would give up any 4 of those pieces 1 for 1 for him. So he’s great, but isn’t high end. All 4 pieces aren’t high end, but further up the ladder than great.

Skinner is a cunundrum.
If he was valued based on his '22 - '23 season his ga 79 go 35 pts 82 +15 does not appear to be a dump.
He was injured late last year and that impacted his performance since he only had 5 goals (3 came in one game) and 10 pts in his last 22 games.
While other Sabre fans want to trade him or buy him out, that is not my POV and based on his history, he would bounce back is his coach was not Lindy Ruff.
But let's not obfuscate this trade and prusume your evaluation is correct that Ostlund and a 2nd is the buy out price.

Sabre fans are earning a reputation for over valueing their players.
Losing Tuch would be difficult, but Petterson would give the Sabres great center depth. Sabre fans should imagine this line up next season:
Benson Petterson Garland
Kulich Thompson UFA (or Rosen)
Peterka Cozens Quinn
Greenway Krebs Mikheyev

That appears to be a playoff bound line up even without Tuch and Skinner.
