Description
I wonder if this is enough for CBJ to accept, both players have low value due they want out of the city. Perhaps we need to give up Grebyonkin in the trade to sweeten the deal due to retention for a 3rd team for 2 years.

Klingberg can get performance bonuses so he'll sign for low AAV.

Bortuzzo on a 35+ deal like Reaves, perhaps it needs to be a 3 year for him to come.

Blais can rejuvenate his career again under Berube, could be a massive diamond in the rough who plays with a little snot.

840k over cap but they can send any of the young guys down. Without any young kid on roster we have 2.6 mil in space left over. If a signing is too low, there is budget left over, or take 1 mill less in retention for either or both players from CBJ which gives us a 3rd/4th pick back

Laine would be a bad trade at any cost above $3M, never mind $6M. One dimensional player at best. Toronto would be better to trade Reaves and use some of the picks you are offering to get other teams to swallow much of Laine's inflated contract, then hopefully trade him rather than ever play him. Not wild about Elvis either. Overpaid, underperformed. Why give up positive assets on a between the pipes dream.

Laine is worth the gamble for 6M - paired with a marner or domi who can facilitate, he'll get 30-40 goals. He hasn't had good players next to him. Can always trade him away after this season if it doesn't work out.

Elvis is a different story, very underrated. Look at his history, when he plays with a good team, he is a star and can play as a #1, which is highly needed with Woll being injury prone. Worth to take a shot on him + 2.7 for a starter for 3 seasons is a big steal.

Laine would be a waste of $6M cap space.
