Lanie wants out of Columbus. His value is at an all time low. I think going to Minnesota for the last 2 years of his contract would surely insire him playing with Kaprizov. Columbus would retain 50% of his contract.
Rossi is young and would fit in with the youth of the Blue Jackets.
I threw Merril in strictly for cap reasons. But I feel a deal straight up Rossi for Laine would work.

Why wouldn't it work for Minnesota? CBJ retains 50% of Laines cap hit for 2 years. Wild have $6 million in cap space. Plus Gus is getting traded to free up more space.

So the solution to finally having cap space available is to trade your only young contributing C, for an oft-injured, sometimes in the assistance program, winger with both work ethic and character issues in his past. I get it, he’s an elite scorer when he’s right. Dude hasn’t been right in 3 years and is now asking out of his second team. This screams PLD 2.0 if you ask me.

Dubois just got traded to his 4th team for literally nothing. I agree on Rossi. 3rd in goals for a rookie. But, Guerin is a meathead and is already floating he wants more size.
I just think the risk/reward is there with Lanie/Kaprizov. It would be the best line Kapirzov has ever been on.

It might be the best Kaprizov line…for like 38 games that Laine would likely play.
