Nucks 202425 Some Old With Some New

Created by: Nucky
Team: 2024-25 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 12, 2024
Published: Jun. 13, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Notes:

Guentzel is the top-line winger the Canucks need to round out their top 6 pairs and he'd be a great fit for Petterson. Have him at 9x7 but there is additional cap space to bump that to 9.5m if needed.

Mikheyev to CHI is an example. Could be to another team as well as needs to reach the cap floor and is looking for a serviceable middle 6 winger with speed and who is defensively responsible. Figure a 3rd is fair but honestly, he could go for a 4th or 5th without retention.

Hronek is going to be too expensive for VAN to retain. Have a trade with NASH here but could be any team looking for a top 4 RD who is still only 26 yrs old. The idea to for VAN to recoup the picks they lost to get him and potentially use the extra picks with the extra cap space to make trade(s) during the season.

Stenlund adds some size, defensive responsibility and PK ability in the bottom 6. Blueger re-signed as as the 3C.

Dillon, Chatfield, Tanev, and Myers signed shorter terms to round out the D and maintain size in the backend. Hughes wanted Tanev back during the deadline this season and Tanev has always loved Vancouver. Dillion has also been open to coming to VAN and Chatfield, a former Canuck, is someone who I can see the team being interested in.

Podz and Karlsson are part of the internal youth movement.

Not sure why I even bother looking at any Canucks ACGM that says trade to Chicago.

Love the Dillon, Stenlund and Chatfield signings. Chatfield likely gets closer to 4.

You have nearly 4 million left. Gave Tanev almost 5. I'd rather keep Hronek and simply sign him.

Otherwise two thumbs up.

I know right! There are certain players that have been in so many proposals to the Hawks, I know exactly how much they make and for how long without even searching for the information.

Totally. I tried explaining it a bit. Honestly, I admit I haven't done my research regarding what the Hawks need or don't. It was more of a placeholder deal than anything. Regardless of what team, a trade like that I feel needs to be done for a roster like this to work.

I'm sure Mikheyev would be a nice addition but there are reports GM Davidson is going fishing for Necas or Guentzel. I think if he lands one of them he may not need to pursue this. But if no one wants to come to Chicago and can't make some trades work, then sure. He wants to make the team better and more competitive this year so they'll need actual NHLers.
