No way Carolina would do this. Yes, Marner is better than Svechnikov, but Svech is younger and has term while Marner is a 1-year rental with a much higher cap hit. And Nikishin is a top prospect. The fact that he was drafted in the 3rd round doesn't matter; he's worth more than a 3rd now.
