Dont hate the Necas trade, but i wouldnt trade Calgary's 1st. they're a bottom feeder team, and that could easily be a top 10 pick. instead, i trade 26th OA this year or round 2X2 in 2025

I’m pretty sure if it’s a top 10 pick it turns into the Florida’s 1st. But the Calgary pick could end up being 11-16 which still wouldn’t be bad.

To make a trade, both teams have to agree to it, and only the Habs are going to say yes here. Canes don’t need nor want another expensive LHD, especially when he would be nothing more than 3LD in Carolina. Barron doesn’t help with the RHD issue since he isn’t ready for big minutes, and frankly, he is likely around 3-4 on the Canes RHD prospect depth chart, so not much value there.

Canes have already publicly stated they view Necas as a budding star, and are wanting a star in return. This doesn’t meet those requirements.
