Reason: Rangers need Buch back and must suck up pride. He has become a more physical player as well and completes Top 6. Blues will not give him up for cheap and need a good player in return especially at Center. Chytil fits the bill. Very risky trade long term but this off-season is about this year.

Reason For SEA: Get a great Young d-man in Lindgren for years to come and Kakko for cheap on 2 year deal. They hope change of scenery unlocks Kakko. Seattle gives up 2 physical defensive players but Lindgren/Kakko upside is reason for it. They will try to replace physicality in Free Agency.

Reason: Very tough to give up Jones but he is too small, can’t have him and Fox and expect to win in playoffs. Rangers also add even more grit with Sturm and hard hitting Boroughs who will compete as 6th Dman (he can also play either side defensively for cheap)

2026 1st isn't cutting it for Buch

2024 and probably need more than Chytil with those injuries. Sure there's protection on the conditional pick but it's not enough

I have to disagree, if Buchnevich had more term on his deal sure rangers would probably have to cough up another 1st…..but he’s not leaning towards staying and if you can get a future Top 6 Center and a 1st rounder in 2 Years you have to take it.

Rentals barely get 2 first round picks in return. At this point Buchnevich is that for anyone trading for him.

Also have you seen The Blues Center Depth? Yikes. Chytil is enough with that protection let’s not act like just cause last year what Chytil was considered to be around the league moving forward. That is a very risky trade for NYR to give up Chytil for a rental.
