You don’t think Easton Cowan will get a look?

If the Hawks want to spend big then they would be wiser to throw a big offer at Guentzel instead of trading away draft capital for Marner.

WOW $12.5M. Why would any team give assets just to overpay for a player? Haven't teams learned the Seth Jones mistake yet?

Cowan will get a look. He too young to be AHL eligible so it's either the Leafs or London.

Minten though, just isn't good enough to be an NHLer in October. He needs a heavy workload with the Marlies in 24/25.

Not yet. Obviously see how he handles training camp first and if he fits well enough, let him fly!
I'd take my time with him though. He's just gotten better as he grows! He's a Gem!

I agree 100%! Get Guentz too! The Hawks have the money! Guentzal and Marner on either side of Bedard is a VERY high scoring 1st line!

He's a VERY skilled player! Look at his stats! He's gonna get that on his next deal no matter what!

If Marner is willing to extend, Hawks have to at least think about that deal.

I tend to agree. A lot of Hawks fans on this site think Mich is too old to fit the Hawks contention window and that he's not a $12m player anyway. To me, Mitch is a player who will be really good into his mid 30's. Like Kaner was.

If we were a Mitch Marner away from cup contenders...or at least toward cup contenders...then ok, but we're not. Wouldn't you just draft Demidov? Or are you thinking Marner Jake and Levshunov?

Definitely not Jake and Mitch. If the Hawks are really locked in on Jake, then they wouldn't trade for Mitch too. My thinking on the trade is it's just picks for Marner. No key roster player; no prospect. Marner is probably light years better than whoever the Hawks get w/ that '25 Toronto 1st and gives the Hawks an elite winger to play w/ #98 right away and for the next 9 seasons. I know I'm pretty much but myself on Marner to Chicago, but to me this is a deal KD has to think about making. If they don't sign Jake.

As for #2OA, I'm still picking Demidov. Marner and Demidov as the two top 6 RW's come 25/26 is a good situation. Gives Demidov the opportunity to acclimate to the NHL for a year or two without the pressure of playing with Bedard right away. Who knows what happens down the road? Maybe they both end up on Bedard's wings? A super line!

Marner is worth more then a late first and a few mid round picks. (The second is probably a late second)

Maybe! But getting $10 mill worth of cap space to build a team with AND a late 1st and a few mid round picks is worth it!
