That's a very different spin on a Mikheyev trade! Kudo's! The Hawk's might actually consider that.

Devils decline. Cap space is everything.

Devils are not interested in a player making $10M+, especially when trading away 4 players who would make the same as Petersen who will provide more diversity across the ice.

The Bratt contract, Nemec rookie contract, and Mercer's likely $3-$3.5M are all good deals for allowing better roster construction. (As is Holtz, but I expect him to be traded.)

That’s exactly why I’d trade EP40. Just trying to find the right trade.

Just totally uninterested in Elias Pettersson making $11.6M unless Vancouver wants to retain on his salary. You will not get Simon Nemec in any exchange.

If I’m Chicago I decline, that’s $9.7m in cap space for the next two seasons. I would prefer they just go and offer Teravainen 5 x $6m.

Now if the Canucks want to throw in a pick or two….

So Ottawa trades it's best cheap forward for an offensive D man that is asking for a large raise??

As a fan of Garland, easy yes if I'm KD. Improves our forward group and great candidate for retain+flip at the deadline in '26. Should be able to fetch the ~2nd rounder we'd generally be looking to take as comp for Mik's dump anyway
