Additional Details:
listen. Knight has struggled yes but he’s shown serious progress with his mental health and he’s shown that he can be a full time NHL goalie, the Cup window for florida is now so they need to get out of 4.5 million from knight and go for it now. LA gets their goalie of the future

Portillo outplayed Knight in the AHL, and he's not $4.5M.

Portillo didn’t have any mental health issues

Good point, another reason for LA not to make this trade.

another reason for LA to take him and have the best tandem in the league in 3 years actually

your getting knight super cheap and he’s 100% going to bounce back

If you feel confident he will snap back and be a legit starter, then keep him and move Bob.

LA likes what they have in Portillo and Shulsumpky. In LA's cap woes they are spending $4-5M on a goalie they want Saros or Ullmark. They were able to put up great numbers with less than $2M in goaltending last season, and they got half that tandem signed at $1M already.

Bob isn’t going anywhere with his contract, Knight is young and a much easier contract to move

as simple as that

Knight is not a proven starter or proven NHLer and was prematurely signed to a big contract, if you want to move him retain or have him prove that he is a starter. Either way LA selecting cheaper, established and better stat UFA goaltenders is a no brainer this off season.

Hard to believe (🤞) Panthers can bring back both Reinhart and Montour. That is a long list of
extremely team friendly deals 🤔

I'd take Knight but I'd need Florida to pay a 3rd team to take at minimum 30% retained but hope for around 2m.
